This Catholic Journey

Gravatar Many famous saints and Catholics say, the greatest feeling isn't your first Eucharist but the last one you just received. When we receive Jesus, truly present, it is the greatest joy. Now, we don't necessarily feel overcome and drop down in tears. This has happened to me - last Sunday was one of those days. But, many times, I receive Our Lord and just know He is there because of my faith, and there is peace in me.

You will hopefully enter the Church at the Easter Vigil and then be able to receive Him. If you have any doubt, worry, or stress, take these words of Jesus to heart. This is one of my favorite Scripture passages:

"In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world." (John 16:33)

Gravatar I beleived your statement of beleif. I was actually thinking something different, but may have been projecting.

I have always been deeply affected by the community to which I belong - sometimes for good, sometimes less so. I have found the impact of the community can make matters of faith easier or harder (if those around are living it, it is a lot easier for to live it myself).

Your description of the service at the protestant church sounded very welcoming. It made me wonder if you were getting the community support you need at your parish - if that was the hidden stumbling block.

I am currently in a parish that has not been very welcoming - even though I am a lector, and my wife plays flute in the choir, and we are active. This can be a challenge for someone not going through conversion. I would think it could be even harder for someone converting. If I am off-base, forgive me for projecting my issues.
