Thank you for that. The time for me to sit down and let my family know I am Catholic through and through now is coming rapidly. It is very scary and heartbreaking. I'm glad I know of others who have gone through it.
Your line about how they seemed to have forgotten your baptism and the day you accepted Christ spoke volumes to me...I feel the same with my family.
Take care and God Bless:-)

I am a cradle Catholic, but a very dear friend of mine converted recently. Her mother is, however, a lifelong protestant with little knowledge of the Catholic Faith. When her mother started asking questions, we had ordered the free CDs from www.biblechristiansociety.com and www.catholicity.com/cds.
Her mom would ask, say, about Mary and the Saints, and we had a CD ready to help her understand.
Now, she's going to Mass every Sunday and we hope that she herself is on the road to conversion.
Maybe some CDs could help your families?
They are free - so you can't beat the price.

It is difficult, I know. I think you wrote of it very movingly and concisely. Realize that it is another way to be closer to Jesus and Mary, because for thirty years, before his public ministry, he and his family had to be silent about his identity. They were their own very small support network in the midst of those he would eventually overturn and create the New Covenant. From the slaughter of the innocents until his public ministry, they had to be totally silent and had no support. So in a way, those who walk the road to conversion without some of their family or friends are blessed with an opportunity to better comprehend what it was like for him.

Thanks for the post. I found your blog via Godfearin'forum. I know what you mean. Family can be brutal. My journey to Catholicism has caused yet another rupture between family members. I really think I was a changeling and didn't belong in my family!
