This Catholic Journey

Gravatar The Lord knows that we need bridges of unity! Live your faith and love others (regardless of where they worship) and God will guide you. Never hide it under a bushel basket. Thought and prayers.

Gravatar Amber - I remember the kind of responses you are talking about. When we said that God had led us in this direction my sister in law said (very loudly) Don't blame it on God! other people have flat out said - I don't believe THAT! - It's really very insulting especially when it comes from people who are closer to you and know your walk with Christ and know that you seek God's direction for you life and know your level of study and knowledge in the Word - but they suddenly believe that you are incapable of seeking God and discerning His direction....deep breath..... After getting hit by so many of those kinds of things right out of the gate it's made me very uncomfortable and very much on my guard whenever ANYone asks about my church. I need to get over that I'm sure
I've really enjoyed these posts that you've done recently !

Gravatar Hi Amber!

You said: "It seems that non-Catholic Christians don’t “believe” that God is leading me into the Catholic Church." and I have experienced that very thing...but like you, I too am ready and now eager to tell others of my Catholicism! I adore the Catholic Church, and I hope that God will bring forth many fruits in my life to show others that He is indeed leading me!

Don't lose heart, sweetie ~ let's pray for one another on this beautiful journey we are on together xx

Gravatar Deanna - It's good to know others experience the same thing... I suppose it's simply a price we have to pay for following God. I'm glad you've enjoyed my recent posts! :)

Gravatar AutumnRose - I also adore the Catholic Church... though I never thought I'd EVER say those words! I agree we should pray for each other on this journey!

Gravatar I'm on a similar joruney into the Catholic Church - after 20+ years as an Evangelical Protestant (which included several years of Bible College/Ordination Study).

Your posts certainly reveal the "tension" between honoring one's journey of faith in the Catholic Church while at the same time handling the suspicion and criticism that comes from Evangelical/Fundamentalist Christians who believe that we are "in error", "forsaking the true gospel", etc.

Ultimately this is an issue of authority, for the Catholic Church claims to be the very Church founded by Jesus Christ. And it is for this reason that the Catholic Church is assailed so vigorously by many of our Protestant brethren who cannot accept this authority.

Amber, your posts (especially the ones that quote from the Catechism of the Catholic Church) reveal the depth in which you are thinking this through.

God bless you on your journey!
