I'm usually a faithful reader of your blog, but a new job has cut way into my online time. I'm sorry I haven't been praying for your aunt and family from the beginning of this ordeal, but be assured that I am now.
My mother suffered a severe stoke in July 2005. Memories of the short time we spent in the hospital are still very vivid for me. After about 36 hours, it was determined that my mother had no brain function at all. She died on July 27, 2005. Faith got my family through that ordeal. My mom had been air lifted to a Catholic hospital (a blessing I didn't recognize at the time). I witnessed her receive the last rites and received Holy Communion at her side with my dad and sister. Many family members came and we prayed through many tears. I'll always remember a comment made by my uncle, "Jesus wept when Lazarus died, otherwise I'd feel like a man of small faith."
I can only imagine how much more difficult it must be for your family to deal with the cycle of hope and fear for so many days. I pray that God's will be done for your aunt. If He wills her recovery, I pray for a meaningful recovery that will allow her to enjoy life and to have to chance to learn more about the Lord. If God wills this to be the end of her life, I pray that you will have the time her you that you hope for. None of us can know now what had happened in her mind and heart or how this has affected the rest of her family. May words of faith find open hearts and provide hope and comfort. I pray for a miracle: a miracle of recovery or a miracle of conversion.
