Re, singing and clapping
I am not a catholic so I am not really qualified to comment on the mass. But the way I see it there are times to be solemn, remembering Christ's death, and there are times to be joyous, rememering his resurrection.
Christ didn't stay on the cross, he rose again on the 3rd day and sits at the right hand of God, interceding for us. that is not a solemn thought.

Alison,
Thank you for your input... :) and welcome to my blog.
Indeed, there are times for that. I completely agree. But that time is not at Mass. Mass is when we remember what Christ did for us. It is a solemn celebration and has been since Christianity began.
No one forgets the Resurrection! (You should see us at Easter!!!) But without the death of Christ the resurrection would not have been possible.
This reminds me of a quote:
"Keep your eyes on the crucifix, for Jesus without the cross is a man without a mission, and the cross without Jesus is a burden without a reliever."
~Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

Tim... Aww... you're too kind! I WAS on the radio the other day talking to Coleen Mast on The Doctor Is In... having a little issue with one of the kidlets but I think things are improving (at least in time for something else to fall apart). For the time being, I'm sticking it out at this parish... We shall see.
Heading over to a word on The Word now!
