That's great! I hope you get a lot out of the weekend. I see it as designed to make sure people communicate - especially about the most important issues. But it has been so long since we went on our Engaged Encounter.

I was thinking of you after Mass this morning. I was trying to explain the Holy Family to two-year-old daughter ("Who's that?" she asked about a statue in the garden outside the church). She's familiar with Jesus and his mommy, Mary, but Joseph's role as stepfather was harder to get across. In the statue, his love for and protection of the family is clear and I found it beautiful. It got me wondering if the role of step-parents, as exemplified by Joseph, is underappreciated in our society and our Church.

This thought led me to you since I knew you and Damion might be talking and praying about just that sort of thing this weekend. It was a great reminder to take a moment to pray for the two of you. I hope the weekend went well and was a meaningfull experience for you both.
