I'm still trying to figure out Viguerie's motives ... if Bob Barr were to win the LP nomination, his ONLY function (other than TEOTLPAWKI ...apologies to REM) would be to challenge voters not to vote for McCain, thus electing Obama!
Is Viguerie secretly in League with George Soros to control ALL political activity? Have we been misisng the takeover by focusing too much on the CFR and Trilats?

My guess is that Viguerie is doing the same thing he's been doing for at least three decades now: Trying to sift the social conservatives out of the GOP and into a discrete, distinct movement with the weight of a "major party" in its own right.
When the Republicans are going his way, he works to increase his movement's influence in the GOP with that movement's support. When the Republicans aren't going his way, he tries to torpedo them with third party activity. Eventually, he hopes to secure either total domination of the GOP by his movement, or elimination of the GOP and its replacement by his movement.
Let's be accurate. The CPD existed before the 1992 debates, and controlled them completely (meaning the two major campaigns controlled them). There was an interesting situation in which Bush Sr. gave up all power over the debates in order to have Perot included (this is how I remember it from the book "No Debate" by George Farah), because at the time Perot was polling so that he took votes from Clinton.
