From the point of view of
an anti-war American libertarian, the advantage of the election
is that it provides someone to
whom to give responsibility for
Iraq who will have credibility
with a large portion of the
Iraqi population.

More importantly, there is at
least a chance that there will
be someone elected who will
insist that the U.S. rapidly
leave.

Because it appears that the Shia
are committed to ruling all of
Iraq, I don't believe that the
result for the Iraqis will be all
that great.
