No, Kerry DOES owe an apology... for being a rich, snooty, arrogant "champion of the little guy". Limousine liberals have a LOT to apologize for, also.
But, I'll give Kerry a pass for the gaffe. Even if, somewhere deep inside, he believes part of what came out of his mouth.

I served in the Navy, and Kerry need not apologize to me for his stupid gaffe. A friend of mine was killed in Iraq, and George W can never apologize enough for that.

Word Thomas. The Democrats need to stop getting pussified everytime a GOP slug plays the "you aren't a patriot" card.
Kerry came out swinging at first in his response to Tony Snow. I damn near ripped a hole in my trousers at his initial response.
After that, the spineless Dems were back to the head-hung-low-we're-not-worthy-pose.
Frack it.

Kerry need not apologize to me; a Veteran.
He done just gave Republicans like me the biggest election year gift we could ever hope for. He probably saved 2, maybe 3 US Senate seats for the GOP.
Thank you John Kerry. You're a swell guy. A Republican's best friend in fact.

Come on, now. Only idiots and psychopaths join the army for the sheer joy of killing brown people. Then you have the poor and stupid who join for Kollej Munny.
Let's get fucking real. Drop the false patriotism and recognize the reality of 2006.
How old are you guys? I'm a recent college grad AND I HAVE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES.
If people serve in the military out of patriotism, then why are so few children of congressmen in the military? Why didn't Dick Cheney and George Bush go to Vietnam?
BECUASE DESPITE BEING EVIL, THEY AREN'T RETARDED, that's why.
Dondipshit - Did you see the editorial in yesterday's IBD??? Explaining how military people are "smarter than the rest of us." Yeah, they may be smarter than the AVERAGE American who is dumb enough to elect George Bush. But they're not "smart." i.e. they don't read, they don't think, they don't philosophy. They enjoy guns and anal sex and Budweiser and racism.
GET REAL.
Kerry didn't mean to say what he said, but he spoke the truth. He himself is too slimy to even think what he said, let alone have the guts to say it.

When I was teaching high-school, some of the smartest kids I had ended up going to the Naval Academy, VMI, or West Point. Why? Because those are damn good schools that provide one of the best educations in the country.
I'd hire an ex-military officer over some fresh Yale BS or MS any day. Hell, I'm surrounded by Ph.D.s and I've known some that can barely tie their shoes (though they were brilliant in other areas).
Though what Kerry said may have some truth to it. [A lot of the screw-ups in high school ended up enlisting. But for a lot of those screw-ups, enlisting changed their life for the better. (This was before the Iraq war. Who knows now.)] The problem is, a limousine liberal who was a C+ student (just like Bush) looks like an idiot saying that those who don't work hard end up in Iraq.
Kerry is an ass. So is Bush. Why would anyone with any self-worth be offended by anything they say?

What Kerry intended to say was clear, to any intelligent person, even in the way he said it. Bush's attempt to spin it into "an insult to the soldiers" only worked because those pussies among the DemEAUcrats don't have enough cojones to stand up for anything.
The absurdity is that so may voters think they are any better than the incombetents in there, or that much will change with a party shift (except for the benefits of gridlock that may slow the juggernaut a little bit).
Me, I voted for exactly ONE incumbent yesterday; he happens to be a Dem (tho he refuses to play along with the Dem hierarchy here). I voted for ONE other person running under one of the party banners (other than D or R everyone here is only allowed to be an "I"), who was a fairly consistent GOPer running against an incumbent state Sen who's outlived his value.
The rest of the races got either blanks or "spoilers" ... and will continue to for the foreseeable future.

I seriously doubt that John Kerry's remarks are going to cost us a few seats.
At best, that is wishful thinking on your part. The GOP has nothing going except frightening voters into voting Republican. They are crisscrossing the country because they are beginning to realize that they could loose and badly.
They have a segment of the population convinced that the world is going to end overnight should they loose.
This veteran feels that Kerry simply flubbed his lines. President George W. Bush has done far worse to veterans and he should have never taken us into Iraq.
I hope he gets his ass handed to him on Tuesday. As I feel that this election is going to be all about his failures as president.

IMO, we're pretty much screwed no matter which of the Duopoly Party heads take the majority.

one can only hope a meteor may fly by, an cause such an electromagnetic storm that the force will change all the vote totals from the monopoly candidates to the third party revolutionists.
I wonder how the news media would spin that one.

I'm a member of Vietnam Veterans Against the War & think Kerry's finest hour was his '71 testimony to Congress. Shortly after that, he developed a taste for mainstream politics, left VVAW, and the rest is history.
He owes veterans an apology for voting "yes" to invade and occupy a sovereign foreign nation in the first place.
