I think we can both agree that having the label of the party doesn't necessarily make one a good representative of that party. (I seem to recall one of my Libertarian friends attacking Bob Barr in 200 Scozzafava's views show that she really isn't a Republican. Now, if the label doesn't make one a good representative, is it possible that one can be a good representative of a party's views without having the label? I would say that you don't need the label to be the rep for the party and Hoffman was the real Republican anyway. Does he have the label? No. He has the street creds and that's what's important.
