Gravatar Coolidge was OK.

Gravatar '...it is enough to make me hopeful that some small diamonds may yet be hauled out of the pit of Democratic ideas."

Tom, if you hadn't said that, I wouldn't have bothered to read the speech.

You owe me an apology. It was the exact pile of socialist dung that I expected.

Along with the obligatory nod to the Mil-ind-complex and other interventionist interests that's part of the Dem script.

Sure, he dishes out some pro-small business crap. But that's overwhelmed by the usual the government is your mommy BS.

If you saw some "small diamonds", you must have been looking inside an antique wristwatch.

Now, if you're just going to argue that in the minds of the rubes that thnk they have a "tough choice" between Obama and McCain, the former put some major points on the board, I can accept that.

But you're above that nonsense.

Barak Obama has blood all over his hands and he is not done yet.

Gravatar Robert,

1) You keep using that word ("socialism"). I do not think it means what you think it means. The dung was managerial, not socialist.

2) I didn't say I saw any diamonds in the speech. I said that I hope for some small diamonds in the future. Probably very small ones.

Gravatar Angela,

I thought I made it clear that I'm no fan of Obama. I never even went through the Justin Raimondo "man-crush" phase with him.

It was still a great speech. And from the standpoint of Democratic election tactics, it was damn near a perfect speech.

Gravatar Geez, Tom, do you expect me to read the posts before I go into PR spin mode?

There is also this matter that we need to clear up: http://www.stcatharinesstandard.....aspx? e=1176899

Gravatar Angela,

You just have to rub it in that that encounter with Jessica didn't make it into her repertoire, don't you?

It could have been an instant classic:

He said boo -- you suck!
And then had another beer
I felt my heart
Rippin' apart
Once his intentions were clear
Dragged him all over that old dance floor
Then waltzed his sorry ass out the door
Told him if I saw him 'round here any more
I'd make him into a steer

Gravatar William Safire did a good job od dissecting the speech in this Sunday's N.Y Times.
