Thrasher's Wheat Guestbook on Neil Young

Gravatar Neil Young's 'Sleeps With Angels' is such a beautiful tribute to Cobain's legacy.

Certianly, Kurt was sadly mistaken that it's betterto burn out than it is to rust.

We miss you kurt.

Hail to the Godfather of Grunge. Long live grunge!

Gravatar fuck you kurt....but fuck courtney more...no more tears for you

Gravatar It's better to Rust In Peace than to Burn out as a martyr. It would be great if Neil could do a song called "Rust In Peace".It would be the antithesis of "Hey Hey, My My".
Just like The Beatles did "Get Back" as an antithesis to "She's Leaving Home".

Gravatar love, piece, empathy forever!
miss you kurt!
you\ll be awlays in my heart, forever.
i won't forget you, never.

Gravatar Kurt and Neil - two of the greatest, real artists of all time.

Gravatar It seems to me that Neil can relate to many Kurt Cobain's, whose sensitivity and innate musical genious just wasn't a match for the hard scrabble world of expediency. Neil was steeled to it, he is a survivor. It didn't hurt that his muse never abandoned him, or that he is possessed of a sardonic and caustic sensibility. It seems his "back is up" at the drop of a hat, which is another way of saying he cares about the bigger picture. There is also a difference between youthful disillusionment, and the wisdom that comes with age. Everyone starts at the same place, not everyone get's to look back. To our sorrow, and notwithstanding any oblique suicide note references to the contrary, Kurt just didn't get there. Greg

Gravatar i cry for feel

Gravatar I'm extemely happy because i'm not the only one who loves and remembers kurt from the heart shaped box.
i?m from colombia , and it's difficult to get information but websides like this make a lonely afternoon warm and totally high with kurt around.

Gravatar all i have to say is that Kurt did and always have a huge impact on the way i look at life and its hurdles we have to cross over ever day. I am deaply open to any comments or questions about Kurt Cobain ty and as the greatest man said 'It's better to burn out than to fade away

Gravatar It's the music that would have been made, but due to the suicide of Kurt Cobain, has left me thinking what might have been. But Neil Young has always lived by the motto "It's Better To Burn Out, Than To Fade Away" His candle is still burning bright and clear. He has lived his life to the fullest and his music will never fade away, even if he burns out.

Gravatar Kurt lives on in all of our hearts...

And his death is a sensitive subject for all of us... It's not right to interrogate neil about it... It's bad enough for him to have this tradgedy in his thoughts and memory...

There was a conspiracy in the death of kurt cobain... www.cobaincase.com

Gravatar I have the greatest respect for Kurt and always will. He was a great guy and he will be remembered. Kurt makes me actually like and enjoy life through his music and his own life. He has his nirvana now.

Gravatar Like Neil, Kurt passionately knew that the music and the artistic value is bigger than that of the artist, him or herself. As an artist, knowing this allows so many doors to be opened. In his short life Kurt opened an infinite number of doors for an infinite number of fans. His words are pure, raw, and will outlive the uninspired works that garnish the radio stations of today. He should be admired genuinely for his fervor for music. My generation was not blessed with a more creative soul. A lifetime of memories from a man that lives-on through his unmatched lyrics, and unparalleled mind. Thanks Kurt.

Gravatar i like cheese

Gravatar "Its better to burn out than to fade away" does'nt matter to kurt but it matter to us.

Gravatar Maybe kurt just though it would make a cool thing to say and we are reading more into that. What he intended was to finish his life as quickly as possible nothing else due to a mixture of heroin and depression he thought that blowing his brains out was a solution to a short term problem. Heroin again is the problem or was it the depression he was obiviously suffering a mixture of both. So in a confused and neurotic psychosis brought on and made worse by heroin he took his life and that is what he ultimately wished to not fade away but burn out. Finally in my humble opinion on this topic Neil was being I think some what ironic not to say heartfelt but ironic all the same. Neil young shouldn't feel any guilt for kurt using his lyric to finish his suicide letter we the general public and his friends and family watched as the train wreck of his life was broadcast, bought, sold, as we watched and consumed without one person asking do you need help! Anyway David Geffen and others can make even more money by releasing more lost, forgotten gems.

Gravatar Kurt was an inspiration to us all, He was filled with love and passion, just like a musician should.

Gravatar kurt was an intricate and deep person as much as a great artist. is it better to burn out than to fade away? Who knows. Kurt did. I will forever be in astonishment to the sheer entity that was kurt cobain. He went too fast in a world that goes with out you. peace KC

Gravatar Neil.

What else can I say?

I'm 35 and have only been a huge fan for 16 years. Yet, I somehow always took his genius for granted. As if his labors and longing were a given...endowed onto humanity as a rock-solid foundation for our waning credibilty.

Over our las few trips around the Sun since the year 0 B.B. (Before Bush), Neil has continually, perpetually and most importantly; persistently worked his way up my top 10 list of artists, easily and un-believably eclipsing the likes of Jimi Hendix, Bob Marley and Johnny Cash to become my "All-time-by-a-mile" favorite by his sheer volume of authenticty. He IS THE man. I cannot express enough my respect for this man's talent and humanity.

I appreciate the best, and unequivocally, NEIL IS THE BEST!!! I love Nirvana and I LOVED "Greendale". Neil redefines the throw-away accolade "prolific"...

For many years in the early 90's while I lived in the area, I would simple ride my motorcycle, the "Buddah-zuki" through the Redwoods of NoCal (Woodside and RC) hoping to catch a glimpse of Neil coming out to get his mail or hear a glimmer of Powderfinger over the roar of my bike as he sat on his lake in his rowboat and unleashed his siren call on my ever searching soul... I never did see him from the Budda-zuki but 10 years laters he continues to grow my love.

I eventually did catch him twice in 2003 in MA and NH and he "devestated the souls of the living". I was figuratively "Re-born". Neil will never Fade away...

Gravatar Both Kurt Cobain and Neil Young cermented my love of music that is meaningful, not just a song to get to the top 40. I believe that if anyone could have bridged the gap between life and death for Kurt, it would have Neil Young

Gravatar No matter what other people say it doesnt really matter. Music is passion, music is giving everything you have, and both Neil Young and Kurt Cobain did and have done that throughout their lives. Kurts life was short, but he did more for music in the 27 years he lived then a lot of people do in a life time. They both are great, nothing more to be said.

Gravatar Kurt Cobain is and will always be a huge inspiration to me. Every word he wrote and chord he played amazed me. I relate more to him than anyone else. Neil Young reminds me of him today; they are both incredible and make my heart stop.

Gravatar Me gusta Gerebito

Gravatar It's beautiful to believe that something can reach the point of infinity, of bliss, of something amazing and as simple as it sounds Kurt Cobain is one of the most honest musicians that ever felt. Nobody's honest in their own lyrics anymore, the beat of the music. All you hear from popular bands is anger and rage, never the roundabout truth never something that is so relateable that you can't name what part of you has ever felt so alive, so you can feel everything. It's those rare times that something, a band, can honestly turn earth into a nirvana. Whether that be for seconds or for eternity.

Gravatar How disgusting that a man (Courtney had a sex change, there is viable proof) claimed to be married to this icon, after they (the COG cult) murdered him in 1990. Geffen (and his boyfriend Pitt, who was snogging Love too) helped "it" steal Cobain's songs and record them with her group. It is a mockery of talent and goodness. Courtney Love, your life is in ruins and soon you will be dead. As will everyone involved in the sacrafice of Kurt Cobain.

This is not Kurt Cobain's child, he had no children! Frances Bean belongs to Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt (yes, they knew each other long before they married). She is idenical to her parents, and strangly, ever whore Hollywood has ever produced. She is hideous.
Kurt had unearthly crystal colored eyes, that demon's eyes are grey just like it's real father, Brad.
Kurt Cobain was murdered in 1990, later Courtney Love (whose real mother is actually "Wendy" who falsly claims to be Cobain's mother) was paid-off to pretend to be married and have a child, all so that the Hollywood 3 could share in the reported 6 billion Nirvana has thus far grossed. Geffen was delighted by all of this, helping Courtney with her transgendering (She was once a male). The hundreds (no doubt thousands) that were and are involved in this horrid Sacrafice are paying-with their lives! Oh, how they shall pay for those crimes.
We love you Kurt.

It is just another Cult admission of guilt, a silly one at that (there is no G-d, and no jesus, but those are the cults false idols).
Just a hyme, a crust of bread thrown on the trail of murderers...

Gravatar I can't say enough about how Neil touchs my life.
I lost a good friend when I was in high school...."you can't be 20"

I lost my brother in vancouver to the needle...."damage done"...

Yeah....it's words describing death to me....but Neils words comfort me, because it's all about life...

Now once in a while phrases and lyrics pop into my head....at the strangest times...
relating....remembering......
and sometimes rejoycing.

Keep on Rockin in the Free world!

Gravatar that was so touching, yet so unbelievably sad.

thanks for this.

Gravatar Simply put Kurt Cobain was a geneius song writer. There is no one else like him.

Gravatar i'm so glad i [bumped] into this site.

Gravatar Wow this was awesome Kurt Cobain is god and there is no other way to put it. I think Neil did a good thing with putting out "Sleeps With Angels" it is a fabulous album and you can tell what he is feeling about Cobain and his tragic death. But always remember Cobain still lives in all of us and he can never die until we forget about him.

Gravatar yes i sgree with you guys-im a big fan of both neil young and kurt cobain/nirvana-its just such a great loss-but deep down inside me-kurt lives on...
-alyssa-

Gravatar remember

Gravatar I just happened upon this in a search for Cobain... I love both Cobain and Young. Young was the first concert I ever attended, and Nirvana was the first I ever attended unescorted.
I find this all very interesting. I knew that Cobain had quoted Young in his suicide note, but I had no clue the impact it had on Young.
Hopefully, someday, people will be able to fully appreciate Cobain's life, and look past his death.

Gravatar Wow man, had no idea Young loved Kurt so much. Love>hate.

Gravatar I never thought that Neil Young had the time to think about Kurt Cobain, I'm a big Nirvana fan, and I've heard some things from Young, every grunge fan should know about this tribute from Young to Cobain, it's interesting, after all, sometimes you feel like nobody cares about Cobain, his life, his music and the way he died, because no one knows what really happend

Gravatar I don't really know Cobain or Nirvana, but I do think that "Sleeps With Angels" is one of Young's best album. The guitars sound so fuzzy and cutting at the same time. The lyrics and tunes are so self-allusive, creating connections between songs that are rare in most albums. It's a fully realized, emotionally complex and mature work.

Gravatar Musically, Young and Cobain each had a unique style. I love the early N.Y. stuff like Cowgirl and Down by The River. The guitar work is solely innovative and raw and emotional and even though "Teen Spirit" was not as long as either of the two early Young hits, the style and guitar work were unique for the time. Teen Spirit is likewise raw and moving as was all of Kurt's stuff. Genius as was Youngs. The real bond was to produce an art form without thinking of what you were going to get paid. At least that is what I believe. More power to artists who remain true to their roots. I believe God holds a special place for those who don't feint from "Telling it like it is."

Gravatar kurt is the best.

we miss you kurt cobain.

hey,hey,hey

Gravatar I have "It's better to burn out, than to fade away" tattooed on myself. Live on, Kurt... Live on.. RIP

Gravatar kurt is alive and he will be in fans hearts

Gravatar god bliss kurts soul
