Gravatar omg, i am so the first one to comment on your inaugural beijing post. this is monumental for sabine rogers. your new home/life seems awesomely exciting, foreign, overwhelming. insert corny joke about your "hairy" situation here. and please know that you are truly missed.

Gravatar Hello! Even though we all new you were moving to China and you've lived there before I still can't help thinking: Cate and Mark are fucking (can I curse on your blog?) living in China! Erik and I are dying to visit and as soon as we get some money, we'll start putting it aside.

PS I've been thinking about ditching blogger for my own domain at some point soon. Check out www.moveabletype.org.

Gravatar Just a quick note on Moveable Type -- you probably want their paid service called Typepad (http://www.sixapart.com/typepad/) that doesn't require you to host your own site and know technical things.

That said, HI! I don't know if you'll even be able to read your comments easily so I guess I'll leave most of my thoughts for an email. Sounds like what I'd anticipate: hard but good. We miss you both like crazy.

Love,
J

Gravatar Sabine Rogers has come and she has commented! And done so first! That alone is worth the trip to China.

Ame--thanks for the tips on Moveable Type, and J, for the extra info. I will look into typepad. And will look forward to your email!

Gravatar I believe I had some similar plumbing/language barriers upon arriving in Rome my junior year. It's somehow comforting to know that bad apartment maintenance is an international language though. Anyway, it's so nice to hear about your first days in China and I look forward to more! Miss you so much!!!

Gravatar Hi Elnie! Now we're dealing with the smell of raw sewage seeping up from our bathroom and into our house. I somehow have a hard time imaging that being a common problem in Italy, but, hey, I really don't know. We miss you all almost as much as sterile bathrooms.

Gravatar I am trying to send good plumbing vibes your way, and will continue to do so until the problem has passed (as I hope it will soon!).
Miss you much too!!!
There has been casual conversation regarding the upstart of a ny kickball team....now why did our star players have to go to China at such a pivotal time??
