Spread Some Fertilizer!

Gravatar I think it was partly that and partly that Utah education professionals sick and tired of having to go every year to the legislature and beg on their hands and knees for money. They are thinking how much harder is this going to be if the legislators who are predisposed to mistrust the "educational system" try to hold increasing school vouchers over their heads as a sort of sword of Damocles (sp?)? Teresa Thuerer our representative on the Utah State Board of Education says everytime they ask for more money for ESL the first thing the legislators bring up is "Are they legal or illegal?" When they ask for funds for better pre-school preparation it's "That's parents responsibility!" We are trying to get $$ to fund our Parents As Teachers Program for at-risk families. No luck. But seriously with what that pro-voucher guy spent on the campaign, he could have given scholarships to the majority of the kids who need it. Spending money on political campaigns to me is like gambling in Las Vegas. If I had $$ I would put it into a foundation where it could do some good for the causes I care about.
