I could only get it to work with haloscan, when I add an ID manually. It seems to me that macros will not be executed in your outline.

Do you create a unique item-identifier that HaloScan needs automatically (f.i. via Edit right-click menu add on)?

I was thinking that a macro to add the current date and timestamp (like the # does) would work great for this.
Then, just a right-click menu item that inserts the code.

Wow hi guys make that 5, I have have been adding the scripts manually complimented by the 'commad 4' for entering current timestamp. A right click menu/macro would be cool to enable automatic entering of comment/trackback including timestap/id etc.. does the %itemnum% exist?, could the %body% tag be broken up into parts allow this stuff to be placed in the template?

@Al: I have been looking for more details on the %body% tag but I guess the breaking-up is done on the server side. %itemnum&% does not exist.
