Dude, McCain was alleged to have told this joke twenty-two years ago. Do you really want to go down this road? My candidate was doing bad jokes in the 80's. Yours was doing cocaine.

And the guy you voted in 2004 (George Bush) was an alcoholic and cocaine abuser those days, but was still elected president.
The problem with McCain is his core beliefs. Someone who makes a joke like that has some sort of sick mind. And it does not matter when he made it. There is a real problem with that guy and I am surprised you are supporting him. Have n't you learned from your vote for Bush in 2004? Are n't you embarrassed that you voted for Bush? Does your personal taxation matter THAT much to you that you put it over the future of this country? Or do you really believe that McCain can handle things? I dont think you believe that. You are far more intelligent than that.

Yes. I will never vote for Bush again.
The McCain of 2008 has IDENTICAL plans and positions with Bush. What is the difference? Seriously.

For one, McCain is a budget hawk, whereas W has no compunction whatsoever about shelling out government largesse. Bush's reckless lack of fiscal discipline is my biggest problem with him, by far, and it's not a problem that McCain shares, IMO.

Oh really? budget hawk? Is that what this country needs right now? That is the only quality of his that is WORSE than Bush. Have u seen the collapse of the government agencies around you? What kind of cuts do you think McCain should do in the federal budget? Where is the fat?
Reality is that we have a totally neglected government at the edge of collapse. Do you remember Katrina? Any budget hawkish moves by anyone would facilitate similar disasters.
I am afraid you are confusing utopic views about libertarianism with reality. Strong nations do not have the budgets of 3rd world countries. Unless they are heading that direction. And that is exactly what might happen if McCain were to be elected. But I dont think it will happen. The game has been over for McCain for some time now. He will lose and he knows it. That is why he looks mean and upset all the time. It is not just his age or weird personality. It is his realization of the upcoming defeat. He is totally bitter about it.

THIS is the funniest exchange I’ve seen in awhile!
BW claims McCain is “the same as” G W Bush.
When Barry points out that McCain is “more of a budget hawk,” BW surrenders his initial point and then goes against his one of his own often-stated beliefs – that “government overspending has been our problem over the last four years,” – to claim “being a budget hawk is bad...which would, of course, mean “Bush is GOOD, as he’s been far from a budget hawk.”
BW, you’ve argued AGAINST more government spending in numerous posts. You’ve NEVER argued in favor of, say, more social spending and LESS Military spending, for instance...and I respect your avoiding that insanity, as Military spending produces jobs – defense contractor jobs, and military jobs that teach military personnel skills they’ll need to excel in the private sector. Social spending does no such thing and, in fact, inculcates dependency and an entitlement ethic among the poor.
When economists talk of “the need creating more jobs,” they exclusively mean PRIVATE SECTOR jobs. Those jobs are a net gain to the economy. Not so, for teachers, firefighters and police whose jobs COST/TAKE FROM the tax base! We NEED more Municipal leaders like the late John T. O’Hagan of the FDNY who, as Chief of Department, once said, “I could get this job done with 5,000 men,” at a time when the FDNY was doing a record (since surpassed) 570,000 runs per year and losing, on average, 12 men per year to line-of-duty deaths. Someone could easily say, “I could get this job (teaching NYC’s kids) with 40,000 members (instead of the over 100,000 members now) and be right on the money, and that could be said across the board in just about every single Municipality in the country.
Our social programs are STILL bloated. We spend WAAAY too much on education and the results are poor because of the “worker-first” attitude inculcated by Left-wing teachers and the corrosive impact of the teacher’s unions.
Funny stuff!
