I have heard of a professor at a Christian liberal arts college who says something like: "It is entirely possible that another universe occupies the same space as ours, but is simply arranged differently, and imperceptible to us." Indeed, the Christian concept of heaven is more shaped by western cultural thought than by the languages of the Bible, which insist that the Kingdom of God is all around us, and suggest that heaven is not another place "up" from here, but simply here "in the air around us."
I have a hunch that in the end all these clues come together, and we all find out we were partly wrong and a little bit right.
