Gravatar I know exactly how you feel. We once rescued three orphaned racoons whose mother had been killed. The kids found the first one in the yard, and then a few minutes later, the second, and by the third, I was beginning to wonder if it was raining racoons. We've rescued a red-headed woodpecker (who grew so accepting of us that when we set him free, he lived in the trees near us and would swoop down and do a fly-by if we were sitting in the yard... kinda his way of saying 'hi' I think). Lots of baby birds, too. The ones that don't make it just break your heart a little, don't they.

Gravatar I hope R's comment about the dog didn't distress E too much. BTW, we found another one in our yard yesterday. E. would be truly traumatized if she lived at our house.
