I dunno, I can understand him pretty well without translation! So I don't fall into the category of a friend who didn't say anything, but one that didn't notice anything His communication skills have been obviously improving, too, so he's definitely on a curve, maybe just his own curve (who, N?)

D wasn't evaluated for his speech until 4, either. Our school district (in TX at the time) refused to evaluate him (I know that was wrong) so I had him treated privately. I'm sure he will respond well.
