Gravatar Great advice, Claire. I've been meaning to add to the perennials in my yard. Can you plant bulbs and then plant another perennial that will bloom later over them? That's always been my question.

Great post!

Gravatar CEO,

Yes, you can. If it's something like a columbine or a bleeding heart that dies back completely in the winter, you can plant blubs quite close. You can also plant bulbs under groundcover, and the bulbs will just shoot their stalks up from underneath.

If you're going to do that, though, I'd recommend planting both at the same time. Otherwise you'll be trying to plant on top of bulbs without gouging them too badly with your trowell, and it will be hard to dig a deep enough hole to plant the new plants.

Gravatar Thanks...can't wait to try it.
