What are the credit ratings of the loans that have been late?
I kind of want to put up like $100 into a fairly safe loan just to participate in Prosper, because it kind of looks like fun. And I know what you mean about not having many people to talk to about finances - my aunt is a financial planner, who advised me when I first started my job to open a 401k, and when I saw her again recently I was SO EXCITED to tell her about what my allocation was, and about planning to roll it into a Roth when I left, etc etc, because that would sound like gibberish to everyone else. =)

Credit grades for late borrowers are C and AA. Thanks for pointing out the omission. I've added this info to the post.
Thanks for writing about your experience. I've been considering lending for some time now...
I find the Prosper community very helpful. I have a terrible credit rating because of ID theft and Prosper people are helping me. I hope people will be honest and repay their loans on time. A big message for people is to not over-extend, in case of a bad economy, have a reserve.
I am grateful to the people who lent me money because they are really helping me re-start my life.
