No, my area is nice and average on most everything which is why I can afford to live here. Umm.. I think kittens at the shelter were more expensive than other places I have seen. It's kittenflation.

I'm sitting here blogging away in the Midwest so I'll let you on the coasts battle that one out. I honestly can't think of anything we pay more for here, except perhaps seafood.

A recent poll named Denver as the 8th most expensive place to live in the country! I don't know what they were basing that on, because, other than housing, most things here seem fairly reasonable.

NYC? Smoking costs more than $7 a pack, a parking ticket can cost $110 (not too sure since I don't drive), a shoe box studio costs $1500, health insurance is $700 a person for basic a basic HMO plan from Aetna, a monthly gargage rental fee is $500 a month. I don't even want to know how much day care is. Oh the flip side there's no reason to own a car, so transportation costs as little as $76 a month.

Is that person complaining about $6000 per year daycare?
In Schaumburg, IL....minimum you will spend is around $12,000 a year unless you try to act frugal and send ur kid to some un-insured stay at home mum day care wannabe...but even that would be at least $6000 a year.
Smokes are around $5.50 a pack here but if u drive to another county....it is 3.50...
