Gravatar Sorry to hear about your retirement accounts. I got lucky and pulled my out about 10 months ago. I took a hit, but nothing like if I had kept it there.

The bad news is that my house is worth about 100k less for the same time period.

Gravatar I've been very intrigued by people who track their net-worth on services like networthiq. Do you update your CC balances every month? Do you just scrape that stuff from quicken or something?

Gravatar IFS:
Every month I log into my accounts online and manually plug the balances into Net Worth IQ. It's pretty easy since I use Yodlee, so I can get to most of the accounts from the same page.

Since I'm bad about tracking my budget, it helps me to at least look at all the accounts once a month to see what's what.

The credit cards get paid off every month, so I usually check the balances on those a couple times during the month to make sure I'm going to be able to pay the full balance when they come due. The amount you see on my Net Worth IQ profile is pretty typical--usually $1500-2500 that we owe at any given time on our 3 cards put together.

Updating my Net Worth IQ takes about 20-30 minutes every month.
