I find that no matter how much I love the tech-savvy banking and "financiering" methods, it always comes down to pen and paper for me when working on something as close to my heart as my budget. Still, while I like going to the mat with the numbers until I break it down to something that I'm comfortable with, I actually LOSE SLEEP until I reach a settlement with myself. My version of the creative process, I suppose.

Hey, I'm also looking to roll a 403b into an IRA. Any advice on how to pick a company? How did you pick Fidelity?

A few people had recommended Fidelity to me, and both my employers offer Fidelity as a 403b provider.
Other good discount brokerages are T. Rowe Price (my sister swears by them) and Vanguard.
About rolling over your 403b, all I can say is, good luck. I had a bear of a time rolling my first one over, and ultimately they told me I can't do it because it's against my old employer's plan rules. I have to say, though, Fidelity did a great job of walking me through the process.
