It is interesting... sometimes it takes a really nasty recession to help you remember how good you have it!
You sound very blessed. I have read and I sincerely believe that the happiest people are the ones that are thankful for what they do have.. and aren't griping about what they don't or who has more. You seem to be one of them.
(Ha! I guess I posted to the other thread too early.) You are exactly right... having a good job, insurance coverage, and the essentials is truly something to be grateful for.
People tend to panic, like your friend selling out her retirement accounts, but I think that slow and steady will reap good benefits in the long run.
