His Own Private Possession!

Wonderful post, a nasty splotch on Christianity is the false belief going around that we can be worldly Christians. They don't exist.

Gravatar My favorite on the subject, next to the Bible, of course, is Christ the Lord: The Reformation and Lordship Salvation (edited by Michael Horton).

I'd not seen that ACE piece. Thanks!

Gravatar Hi Gunny,
Yes, that was the best book on the subject, but I think it's been out of print for a while now.
Blessings

Gravatar Not cool. I actually have 2 copies, so I could probably fetch a pretty penny for the extra.

Well, I should probably hang on to it for when the first one wears out.

Gravatar Pastor we disagree on this doctrine, as you know, but I am especially concerned with this thought from your article:

“He is calling us to walk in obedience, and the one that does not, has no real assurance of salvation.”

Isn’t it Christ’ obedience that is the real assurance of our salvation and not our own?

(Our love to you all! I hate that I have not made time to comment on all we agree in.)

Gravatar Hi KC,
Yes, and no.

Yes, He is our real assurance. And IF we are in HIM, then we will produce good works because we have been made new creations. We will yearn for it and carry it out.

But the one who says a prayer for Jesus, then goes his own way has no real assurance whatsoever. He is not trusting in Christ, but in his own ability to say the prayer.

BTW, thanks for coming by and good to see you are still around.
Blessings
