Blog page noted. I am under the biggest deadline of my life in the next few weeks, so I cannot pursue the Simon thread any further at this time. However, you can expect my return to the political debate at some time in the future.

"U.S. power should never and will not again be used to install puppet regimes in search of stability. Not any more." Let us hope so. But I'm not so sure a future election doesn't turn us back towards where we came. I'm curious to know what you think the result of a Kerry presidency would've been. And congratulations on the new job.
Also, I'm glad cobbiii has found his way here. I only read a few of his posts, and disagree with much that he said, but I compliment him on his willingness to engage and his openness.

cobbii disagrees vehemently with just about everything that is mainline for me, or for the majority of Roger's commentors.
But he/she does it in a civil manner, and brings chops to the table.
My forum is about personal opinion. All are welcome. Success here isn't measured in points, it's in the process of discourse.
I agree with you, cobbii, that nothing about our policies are forever. Like I said, we do change rapidly. What are the chances that Bush's party will enjoy long- term returns on a spectacularly successful democratization process like I see as possible?
Not very good, in my opinion. Doing the right thing and changing the playing field for a quarter of the world's population is all well and good, but this electorate acts on domestic issues (when not too busy avoiding being killed by terrorists) and the GOP is doing a crap job of fiscal stewardship.
I look forward to the next few years, on many levels.
Have a fine weekend.
