Gravatar I must admit, myspace.com is the best idea to date. Yes, it has its problems such as too many people logged in and little kid's posing as older to talk to older guys/girls but hey... it is the parent that must view and monitor it. I do not recommend it for people under 16 but above that. It is the best to keep in touch, be creative and just have a place to call your own. Own it. Live it. Myspace it. Myspace!

Gravatar okay so first off MySpace.com is basically what we are doing right now. If you think about it all Stacy and I are doing on our MySpaces is talking to our good friends and posting comments about how we feel about certain things in life. It's just like AIM and Yahoo messenger! I think that the newspapers and the t.v news are being very one faced about the whole thing. There has not been one story that shares the fact that to leave a comment or a picture comment on a persons MySpace you must first ask to be that persons friend. After you have asked to be added to their friend list they can approve, deny, or cancel request. It is up to the user on who is on their buddies or "Top 8". You can also look at the persons profile before you decide whether or not you want to add them or deny them. If a friend leaves a nasty or inapropiate comment or message you can simply go to "edit comments" and delete the comment. If a person on MySpace that is one of your "friends" is harassing you in any way or is being extremly rude to you you can simply delete them from your friends. You do not have to keep the people you do not know or do not want. Everyone makes it look like it's a big ordeal and makes it seem like you can not get rid of those who are harassing you but all it is is a click away. and if you think about it its your fault if someone is harassing you in the first place because you accepted someone you didnt even know. When I recently whent to a site that I usually look at there was a call from a mother to another student about the fact that her daughter had given the student her passwird and permission to load and change photos on her own site. The student did change the photos to inappropriate photos. However the girl did give him permission to do this to her site. The mother then treated to report the student to the school. And also in the newspapers there has been reports that MySpace is hurting the schools. There is no reason whatsoever to involve the school in an after school activity. Also if a parent must sit next to their child while he or she is online on MySpace that is only proving to your child that you have no trust in them at all. And you are being way over protective. One other thing is this porn stuff thats on your childs myspace on their pictures, or their myspace in general is put on there by YOUR child. they choose to put it on there and that is what people need to notice. they put it on there not others. The age limit on it is 14, yes but i know 6th graders who are far from 14 who have them. MySpace is a fun way to chat with your friends espeacially if you do not have aol, aim, yahoo or msn messanger. And once again i state you choose who is your friends and who isnt your friends. And this "my child has a picture of a vodka bottle on her myspace" Crap?? It's a PICTURE of a vodka bottle who gives a rip?? Yes she may be drinking it but let'me tell you something: If a child is exposed to drinking in the home or around friends they do it. It is normal for children and teenagers to drink underage. They see it in movies, shows, and all around them so dont you think they'll do it too?? If you havent raised your child to NOT do that then who knows what their gonna do... right? All this New's stuff is, is totally one faced it's not right how they're leaving out IMPOTANT things about MySpace users to know and we think its a bunch of crap.
Sincerely,
MySpace users:
Stacy & Kenzie

Gravatar I am so thankful to have myspace.. there are people who I found on it that I thought I would never see or find ever again.. and also friends from high school that i havent seen SINCE high school.. its a good way to keep in touch with people you used to be close with and lost contact with...

Gravatar ok I can see a lot of you are upset by the fact that I met my boyfriend online. This is only about half of the story. I talked to him on the phone, had my mom talk to him, and talked to his mom before even agreeing to meet him. Also, we met up in a public place (my school) with most of my friends and my mom present. It's not like I went off by myself. So please, stop bashing

Gravatar I wonder if that girl knows that all her info and the boy she met along with every email she's ever written on myspace is being used to fill up her email, and her families mail boxes with marketing from murdoch and the saudis who own all her info from myspace. If she said in an email where they went Murdochs team uses that info and sells it to local marketing reseach and her tv will now show her ads that are aimed at her.

Myspace sucks!

Go to Communityx.net they have two sections, 18+ and 18 and younger.

They protect your info from marketers! Also they are way cool too. I think kids and adults shouldn't ever be together in a dating site. It's only going to lead to people getting hurt. That girl could have been being lured by criminal. Yes she met the love of her life but what if that love was 30+ years old? Again kids and adults shouldn't be mixing together in a dating site. Go to comx!

Gravatar I'm in shock over on girl featured in your story. Tell me she didn't actually agree to meet someone over the internet and have him pick her up at her house. Sounds like teen fiction. No one could be that clueless.

Gravatar Myspace is a great way for parents to keep up on what their kids are up to.
