Strangely enough, I do the same thing, but I always tell myself that I'm doing it to put more distance between myself and the car in front of me so that there won't be any reason to slam on my brakes, thereby keeping the jerk behind me from having an excuse for hitting me. In reality, I'm probably doing it just to annoy the guy behind me.

Several years ago, I was in an accident where a car swerved into my lane right before a stop light. I had to slam on my breaks to avoid hitting them, but I stopped in time. The car behind me who was folowing to closely couldn't stop in time, hit me, and pushed me into the car ahead of me.

Guess who got a ticket? ME! The officer said *I* was following too close.

The more fun version of just taking your foot off the gas is turning off the overdrive. One little push of the button, and suddenly your car shifts down and you're going much slower, without putting on the breaks (this works for when you see a cop, but don't wanna slam on the breaks too) Definitely scares them. And, since I drive a pickup, I've got about 8 feet of "crumple zone" behind me.

Todd - of course you're doing it to annoy the guy behind you!!

Scott - that sounds like one to go to court over.

Alan - I hadn't thought of that! Thanks for the tip!

My small acts of rebellion include, not responding to the emails that require that you respond within 5 seconds or face the rapture and returning the junk mail that credit card companies like to pack into your statements. Neither of these do much damage but they feel oh so good.
