Have you started any new medications in the past 6 months? My brother just went through something similar...pain, numbness in his hands, doctors suggested carpal tunnel, etc. It turns out those are known side effects of the meds (cholesterol or blood pressure, not sure which) he went on back in the summer. He stopped them and he is almost back to normal after two months!

Todd, my dear,
I hate to hear all this about your back and shoulder. Can I tell you I had and continue to struggle with something very similar, or at least it sounds that way. Have you heard the term Mouse Arm at any point? Do you use your right arm to guide your mouse on the computer? If so, you might be suffering from a over use injury. Mine got so bad that I had to sleep sitting up. At first I thought it was a hand/elbow thing but really it was way up in the trapezoid area. I could go on and on and we could share stories of pain and lack of relief, but that seems wastful, so let's get to treatment for my Hundurian friend. I eventually got past the worst of the pain but it took a lot of work, and now I'm really careful about my positioning at the keyboard and I'm religious about using my massage hook (Thera Cane) See attached URL:

Click on Hand-held Massagers.
This tool along with rolling on a tennis ball and deep tissue work at the chiropractor's office (many visits and not so much about adjustments... more about getting deep into those HOT SPOTS behind the shoulder)
What can I do for you? You better get back here...wait maybe I need to come down there! Heat is better than cold for you at this point.
Keep me posted!
Love
Bru
