2 things:

1) I never had trouble getting anything fixed at the apple store. A good attitude and some smooth talking will get you anything. A while back they even replaced my cd drive in my macbook because it didn't work "sometimes". This was hard to prove but it didn't matter. Even better: they recently fixed a lot of parts for me 2 months out of warranty. I have had some bad luck with my macbook but I am glad I bought it at Apple and not Dell which would have me send it TO them for every nag.

2) I once cleaned my Macbook Pro with a disc liek that, and had a hard time getting it out. The push-out power of the drive was not good enough to push the brushes through the slit of the macbook pro. I was lucky to be able to pull it out with a set of tweezers.

Nice to know, Cristiano. Perhaps next time my laptop packs up, could you take it in to London for me?

You do know that there are SOME decent non-apple service centres? I have used a few in the Netherlands for a while and the service per centre really differs. I advice you to look around and see how some of you maybe a bit less local service centres will support you.

That's a good idea. Perhaps I'll talk to some Brighton types about where they get their machines serviced.
