Very cool. Though that has to be the highest acronym to word count in a blog post ever. I'm going to have to have a look at SPARQL soon I'm thinking.

A challenge to you Tom. Explain that post with no acronyms or jargon in a way that is understood by the layman. With a why attached. Please. I have no real idea what you are trying to do except grab a list of identities you trust and then do something with the list.

Gareth: SPARQL is lots of fun. Like SQL, but with different challenges.

Rachel: point taken. I've posted up a translation from Jargonese back into English. :)

It doesn't seem to work well with AOL OpenID. I've just tried to log in and verify with them and end up with a fatal error

Thank you...I understand it now. And I love the idea, giving people you know access to information in a way that is open as well.

Problem rectified and I can log in successfully. I'm AIM:hk28481k BTW (though I almost never use that, hence the nothingness in the page).

Thanks for asking Rachel! I'm sure you spoke for more of us than you know.

Now I know what Toms doing I can say neat! I remember the days when it was OK to put my email address on a website. Sigh.

Tom - can you add me to your list?

I was able to get pretty good workflow for this on my Mac - using Operator 0.8 the "Contacts" bar was highlighted, and it pulled your not-a-friend-of-mine version of the hCard into Mac Address Book.

There was some funkiness to it which I'll try to describe:

* rather than listing your IM handles as IM entries in Address Book, it gave them as URLs in the "Home page" field.
* it didn't fill out the "city" field, gave a "state" as "East Sussex", and country as "United Kingdom".

I logged in with OpenID (despite my misgivings about the ease of phishing using OpenID) and if you want to add that to your whitelist I'd love to try the "enhanced" version.

It's not clear to me whether the IM import deficiency is an issue with your data, with hCard, with Operator 0.8, or with Address Book; lots of moving parts as you describe.
