Tom the Dog's You Know What I Like?

Gravatar What in the hell are you talking about? Did we even WATCH the same show? I can't believe how off base you are. I mean, really...that was so totally NOT an exaggeration on Mick Jagger's part.

Gravatar We watched it last night (DVR) - I liked it quite a bit, but I'm not sure if the wife did. It'll be nice to have to follow a TV show again - especially since The Shield isn't going to be on when it normally is (instead, we have Dirt.)

Gravatar I thought the show was funny, but I was a little annoyed by how non-poor the characters seemed. The working-class angle seemed like a gimmick, not something thought-through or really felt. (By contrast, MY NAME IS EARL is goofy, but fairy thorough in its white trash milieu.)

Still, I'll keep watching, because funny ain't cheap.

BTW, I'm watching your 1 VS 100 right now here in the central time zone. Saw you up in the top right corner of the screen when they intro-ed the drag queens.

Too bad you weren't in the first mob. They not only made money, they knocked out a really annoying contestant. Your guy seems like a decent dude. As I type this, he's gotten three right, but the mob is hanging on. tight, with only 7 knocked out.

Good luck.

Gravatar Agreed. Well put.

For some weird reason I enjoyed Mick Jagger practicing penalty kicks inside his apartment. I figured his cameos would be a great part of the show, but Donal Logue proved to be the deciding factor in getting me to watch another episode. I'm looking forward to watching this for the rest of the season.

Also, I agree with Noel on the first contestant of 1 vs. 100 tonight...she started by calling out her ex-boyfriend on national television then she even used the incorrect phrase "doesn't jive" which I do recall being a pet peeve of yours.

Gravatar AZTeach -- I know, I was kind of thinking that watching the show: "I bet Mick Jagger really does have a house boy he takes soccer penalty kicks at!" And the room with the hats -- oh, that SLAYED me. "I keep them at 62 degrees, about 10 precent humidity." And of course the indoor pool just for his dogs -- did you notice the dogs were named Charlie and Ronnie? As in Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood? Ouch! Nice touch, there.

Jason -- somehow, I think Dirt won't be around for too much longer. I can't wait for The Shield to come back, either! I hope Forest Whitaker is still on the show. He was AWESOME.

Noel -- I don't know, Donal's got a tub in his living room. That seems like a decent representation of poor. Are you saying that the characters don't act like they're poor? I don't know, it worked for me. They're city poor, as opposed to rural poor like on Earl. They were convincing enough for me. (Although I did wonder where Donal got his British doorman's costume.) Also, see my next entry, re: your 1 Vs. 100 notes!

Jeremiah -- I think Mick's only making cameos in this first episode (and hopefully the final episode of the season, when presumably the guys will actually get around to the robbbery). But Donal Logue, yes, was great, and I loved the two bickering sidekicks. "You got a better idea, Dr. Bombay?" "Yes I do: The Jedi Council." "That's not bad."

Gravatar I caught part of this, and what I saw seemed pretty funny. I like the premise, I like the Mick Jagger soccer kick and "Start Me Up" Muzak, and I like Donal Logue.

I picked up a copy of a little indie film he did a few years back called "Tennis, Anyone?", about B-movie actors playing on the celebrity tennis circuit--it's kind of like a low-rent "Sideways" with tennis instead of wine. Jason Isaacs plays a great villain, and Paul Rudd has an hilarious cameo as a porn star. Not a masterpiece, but worth a rental, especially if you're a Donal Logue fan.

Gravatar Glad to see you liked the show too. I'm actually hosting a contest on my blog where I'm giving away an official Knights of Prosperity t-shirt. Feel free to check it out if you are interested.
