Why does this have to be a defeat for the Reps? For the last xx months we have heard nothing of whatelse is going on in congress, no bills, no illegal alien amnesty, no tax reform, nothing except how miserable it is to get along with the Dems. Wouldn't it be nice to get some work out of these senators for a change? And don't believe that this methodology of business as usual is over. The dems are planning their next demonstation of minority power even as the rest of the congress gets back to work.

I'm starting to see the simularities between Spain and the Republicans... both gave in to the losing side when they had victory at hand.

Marc - I don't see how one could view this any other way than a defeat for the Pubs. They lose 2 judge nominations of President Bush's selections. fyi - they have been doing other business and spending money like it isn't theirs (ex. highway bill). If that's all they are going to do is get thru spending bills I'd rather they got nothing done. Oh - they also did pass the military spending bill which was a mere $82Billion. I don't mind the military requirements but it's all the other pork attachmented to the bill. The Republicans have lost face and momentum with both the Democrats and their base. When this issue happens again (and I guarantee it will) the support from their base will not be their for them since it's like Peter crying wolf once too often.

I wondered why I woke up with a headache this morning. Then, I saw the front page of the newspaper. What exactly were McPain and Loserman laughing about? The sheer joy of screwing the constition? Yeah, that was it.
So the Bush legacy will be blowing a primo opportunity to secure the Supreme Court, filling the seats with constitutional judges. Unless the nuclear option is still an option ...?
