So she went to press with a story outing an important CIA operative / operation but did not bother to report that she knew 9/11 was coming. Swell work idiots.
Do I think the wrong choice was made? Sure, with 20/20 hindsight I would think so. But look at the next to last paragraph. "Who are these guys...How had we gotten the intercept? Miller didn't have any answers...Miller agreed to try and find out more, but in the end the story never ran". He was doing what should be expected of a good journalist. He wanted to verify information. If every rumor that ever comes up runs in the paper, than the Washington Post becomes another National Enquirer. The age of Yellow Journalism, where "facts" were presented in whatever fashion suited the editor, are over.
Judith Miller? The same one that carried water for the Administration on WMD and painted herself as some sort of martyr in the Plame matter?
Sure. Lots of credibility there. If she told me the sky was blue, I'd go outside to verify it for myself.

She heard about the 'intercept' on July 4th. I call shennanigans.
Judith Miller isn't the story here, it's our inntelligent people's ineptitude.
There is no "War on Terror" and that was the first mislabeling mistake here. The attacks should have been treated as a criminal case from the start.
Why hasn't the US been hit again? Because Al Queada got lucky, that's why. If we had never called it a War on Terror and treated it as criminal, we'd have had the same results in terms of no successful attacks since - but we'd have saved a hundred thousand lives and a trillion dollars - not to mention the Constitution.
Intercepting chatter does not translate into knowledge of and thwarting the plans. Besides the omission from the Commission Report, there is no story here.

Condi Rice appeared to do nothing until about 3 days before the attack on 9/11.
And this nation spent how much time and money obsessing about Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton? Where's the accountability for this administration?
How could anyone be this incompetent when you have two senators on national TV practically waving red flags saying "be prepared!".
How many times have we heard reports of an Al Qaeda guy saying "something big is coming" SINCE 9/11? I believed bin Laden every time he said it for the first three years; I believed the govt every time they reported the chatter they overheard the first three years after 9/11. Obviously it's all been bluster. The Times had no way of knowing that this wasn't the same sort of bluster.
Judith Miller is an attention whore. She realized she has been out of the spotlight for a while and decided to make something up to get back in it.
Were it true the way Miller tells it I think she would have some responsibility and some liability for not reporting it. It doesn't seem to be a far cry from Moussaoui lying being liable for the deaths of the victims. I think she is just a sick person that needs to feel important.
This is JUdith Miller. It is probably a fabrication. They are trying still to connect Al Queda to 911, and the simple irrefutable fat remains that Bin Laden denied they did it.
If anyone was fooled by the subsequent CIA fake video of Bin Laden saying otherwise, then you'll believe anything.
Do we remember how the fake Bin Laden named the official list of Hijackers? Problem being that the list was false, seven to nine of the alleged hijackers turned out to be alive and well.
Stop buying the rubbish people. Stop forgetting the facts of these things from one day to the next.
Miller was caught red-handed spreading false propaganda for the beast man junta. It doesn't occur to you clowns that she is still doing so?

If you are going to nit pick all these articles, then maybe you should focus on another part. From the first paragraph: Al Quaida expressed "dissapointment that the United States had not chosen to retaliate more seriously against what had happened to the Cole."
I guess Mrs. Miller felt bad for the terrorists not getting the retaliation they wanted, she helped the administration bumble their way into a second war to make up for it.
If her little tale is true, then we have done EXACTLY what the terrorists wanted. Good job Judy, good job Condi, good job Bush, ad infinitum.
