Wow, you really have no standards do you Mike.

"It has become highly politicized and, in our opinion, these young Marines are being sacrificed for foreign policy reasons."

This would be the policy that foreigners can also qualify as "people" and "murdered" ?

"Congressman John Murtha for incredibly inappropriate public statements he made that have already been proven by the government's alleged charges to be false."

Proven because they have only been charged with the "murder" of 24 civilians and not "murder in cold blood" ?
Sounds entirely plausible. Maybe you could get your clients off using the same logic of how things are proven. For instance a charge of "murder" doesn't specify they shot unarmed civilians does it ? Case closed Matlock, break out the crackpipes!

"These statements created a further climate that contributed to the public pressures to file charges against our client."

Which clearly have tipped that case of soldiers murdering 24 civilians from "interesting trivia" into "prosecutable crime".

"No one has pled guilty, much less confessed, to any crime with respect to Haditha."

Nobody has confessed ? Wow you really aren't a competant lawyer are you. And one complaining about news coverage no less.

"I have reviewed thousands of pages of evidence that few have seen. The deaths of these Iraqi civilians was a terrible tragedy, but it was not a massacre as some in the media have portrayed."

Yeah but to be fair you go to broadcast with the dictionary definitions of 'massacre' you have, not the definitions you wish you had.

"And I personally do not believe, based on what I know, that SSgt Wuterich committed a crime that day."

Yeah you already said you were a bit sketchy on military law, so we'll chalk up not knowing whether destroying and falsifying action logs and reports, forcing subordinates to give false testimony and generally presiding over your squad killing 24 civilians carries any charges. After all this is the military, where the time you wake up is dictated in regulations, who knows whether gear like that is in those big legal-type books too.

"This case is important enough to me that I am devoting a significant amount of my time to it."

Motherfucker! One would hope so. You just told us you were co-counsel for the guy who led a massacre of 24 civilians.
Sorry, have I missed a punchline somewhere ? Is this real or satire ?

"There is, in fact, far more at stake than just the eight Marines who have been charged with crimes arising from actions taken that day. What it means to be a U.S. Marine is being challenged."

Er... yeah. You might not want to mention that again pal.
You will after all being arguing against any criminal culpability arising from killing 24 civilians, mostly women and children, and covering it up. And that this is part and parcel of being a marine.
