do you really think that islam declared war on the US, and not vice-versa? in an interview with veracifier (veracifier dot com, it's on their blog), max blumenthal talks about how it was a group of islamic extremists - and those could have been extremists from anywhere, right? it just so happened they were muslim. even bush stood on the steps of the national cathedral and said that these are not representatives of islam, these are rogue few... so then didn't we end up declraing war on them after that?
Well, I can't speak for Bruce, but I can say definitively that the US has not declared war on all of Islam! On 1 billion people? I think that is what Bin Laden hopes to achieve.
Personally, I think you have a point that all major religions claim they are the one and only true religion which leads to the desire to convert the rest of the world to their point of view. Bruce's thesis says that Islam is just more explicit about it.
