Gravatar I think that RDS had a great spot last night on sports30 on the history of losing the city of Philly has. They had clips from all four major teams losing when it mattered most, whether it was Joe Carter's walk-off homerun to end the World Series or Donovan McNabb's inability to win the big games. Of course, they had plenty of clips of the flyers losing too.

Although momentum seems to be lined up in Philly's corner, one early or ugly goal for nos Canadiens will change that quickly. Here's hoping we get plenty of goals, hopefully of the downright ugly kind to make up for all the awful bounces the puck's been taking recently for our hockey team.

Personally, I just hope Price's thumb got some rest and is feeling better.

Gravatar I'm frequent reader of this blog but have been insanely busy this week and have hardly had time for the games, so reading posts had to wait.

I think the major reason to believe is that in each and every game in this series, except parts of the last one, the Canadiens looked dominant.

They have it in them to win game 5 (and game 7). Of course, they also had it in them to win each game and to sweep the series, but that didn't happen at all.

A 1-3 comeback is entirely possible - they did it in 2004 (although they have been playing better now than the early games then). The reason it's uncommon is that all it takes to ruin a three-game win-streak between two reasonably matched teams is a few bad turns of luck and a couple of players feeling off. Given that Philadelphia has, in my opinion, already had many lucky breaks, one is inclined to hope that the luck will not continue. But keep in mind that each game's luck is independent of the others - 'luck' or 'flukes' will not magically even out across games. Winning takes a lot of hard work, and hard work isn't enough sometimes.

So, they can win, and they can also lose. As one of my t-shirts with their logo says, J'y crois!/I Believe! (that they will win game 5, for starters.)

One more thing - I will be very, very busy tomorrow and will not be able to watch the game. I am looking forward to reading about it on your blog one way or another.

Gravatar As both the Habs and Flyers found out in the first round, having a 3-1 advantage over the opposition can lead to complaciency. Both teams managed to get through, but the experience left lessons to be learned.

Philly now find themselves in the same position as the previous round, whereas Montreal is in new territory. I doubt the Flyers would let the same thing happen a second time in succession, but on the other hand, I doubt even more that Montreal will allow a 4th straight loss with their most successfull line combos intact and a revitalized goaltender hitting the ice in 7 hours.

Don`t back a lion into a corner.

If you`re a fan of hockey, sit back and enjoy...this one is going to be good.

Go Habs Go

Gravatar Argh... still four hours to go. I don't know if I can contain my enthusiasm for that long! It's gonna be a dandy of a game, that's for sure (and not a Dandenault of a game... that would just be sad)
