Gravatar Luck Schmuck. I agree with you Topham.
Was it luck that our captain won a huge faceoff with 30 seconds left?
Was it luck that our best scorer all season long came through twice to tie the game?
Was it luck that a video replay rule was implemented as it is written? (note: if the video is inconclusive the decision goes to the ref's initial call on the play - which he had called a goal anyways)
Was it luck that the habs speed and skill got them two breakaways and two shots rung off the post?
And finally, was it luck that Philly's goals came off Fe-breaze-by's blade and Lupul's skate?
I'll let you answer those questions yourself, but next time John Lu reports on Les Canadiens it better not be entitled 'Lucky Break?' - cause last night's victory was nothing but well deserved win. That's playoffs baby.

Gravatar Big time luck on the Flyers' part. We outplayed them from the Koivu almost-goal through Biron's gaping 5-hole that banked off the post until about the 10th minute of the 2nd, and again from the 10th minute of the third to Kostopolous' great follow-up. For some reason we stopped checking for about 20 minutes, but managed to step it up again thereafter.

The fact that 1) the Breezer had to put in one of Philly's goals and 2) Andrei suffered a huge brain fart after undressing Biron and forgot to lift the puck on his penalty shot, and you have luck playing a huge a factor in just keeping the Flyers in this one. Kovalev's goal was 100% legal, the conclusive angle was the one that RDS showed (only once for some reason) from far behind the play. No question that was a goal, and that Biron couldn't see it at all.

If we can continue to contain Prospal and Briere like we did last night, and keep Brisebois from peppering Price with own goals, then I don't see any problems destroying the Flyers like we have all season. Biron looked weak, particularly in the 5-hole, and his defence was even less effective than the Bruins at restricting the Canadiens from playing wide-open hockey.

Go Habs go!

Gravatar Watching it on CBC, they actually reported from the war room in Toronto that Kovalev's first goal was conclusively a goal, no ifs, ands or buts. Two posts, and an own goal and you can't think that Montreal got the better end of Lady Luck's stick last night. To say that Philidelphia outplayed Montreal is obvoiusly spoken through the mouths of Flyers fans and Habs naysayers (in other words, Leafs fans).
