Mats Sundin is the last big name out there, no question. At this point, it's obvious that Gainey has decided to go into 08-09, pretty much as he left 07-08.

In goal we have Halak and Price. I think we're all comfortable with these two young netminders between the pipes for us. Halak will need more NHL calibre games this year if we hope to have a suitable backup come the playoffs and Price will need to work on consistency and his ability (or lack thereof) to play under pressure.

On the blueline, getting rid of Brisebois was fantastic. Losing Streit was horrible. We still need a tough, stay at home, clear out the front of the net, type D-Man. Komisarek can't do it all. We also need a replacement on the point on the pp. At least, I think we do. I thought that when we lost Souray too, though, and I was wrong then. Markov could probably fill this position nicely.

Up front we needed some more grit for dealing with teams like Phili in the playoffs, instead we got Laroque. I think Peca is still available and he's the kind of third line center I'd like to have.

I have confidence in Tanguay to return to form. I really think that's a brilliant pickup.

Perhaps doing very little was the best thing Gainey could have done.

We can only wait and see.

BTW, keep up the good work on the blog! Always a good read!
