Gravatar SEO will never die!

Gravatar I think something will change but SEO will never die. We'll see what main Search Engines' steps will be

Gravatar A lot of "traditional" SEO, which is really just glorified spamming, will probably go away. But even as a new entrant to the field, I see real reasons that "pagework" is going to survive and to thrive. Just getting sites to XHTML compliance is an enormous task that can feed people for years to come.

Gravatar Spot on! I agree that there will be more emphasis towards social media networking.

Gravatar yes I agree totaly !! goole not only way to promote site .. lot of web and tool out there .. i can say 40% search market in asia is belong to yahoo and some very good maketing tool like email, posting articles, or event some things like this blogs .. can make more visters - more clients.. love your post .. i going to include this to my own blog http://www.seodigger.blogspot.com and also put it in the vietname news site review http://www.xaluan.com an www.veryzoo.com for more people know this blog. other way to promote uhh!! regards

Gravatar I absolutley agree SEO is slowing going the way of the dinosour as website owners discover the real impact of offline marketing as a real source of targeted traffic. I myself with a low spend advertising budget still rely heavily on search engine traffic ...hey free traffic dosen't hurt..lol but it dosen't convert that well. I have started handing out business cards recently and to be honest the impact this very simply strategy has had is more that the impact I have every recieved from any search engine.

Gravatar Very true!

The hot way is to give something away to the Internet community and get something back.

You would actually want to make something good and usefull for every major community. Building sort of a ring around your "super site".

I did a little experiment with this using our little non-profit net news paper Nyfiken vital (swedish) about health, the environment, nature and similar topics.

I made two blogs (or rather a couple of more but we havent had time to work on these yet, for example one about Drupal which we use). The first blog is about how we use creative commons picture on Nyfiken vital and give the guide on how to do this using Flickr, Google and similar tools.

You have this site here:

I also made another, which acctually are a meta-blog about how we try to increase the number of readers to the news paper. Typically I would blog the things I do to try to climb the SERP. Sure I give away something valuable but I get *much* more back.

I am also going to a Flappr map over science which probably also will generate visitors or linkpower.

Not that the news paper have anyneed for it. It acctually get quite a lot of links by it self and it have more need of more onsite-content-correction.

But it is always fun with more readers. Also I hope both the blogs will make other blogs a little better.

Thanks for a good blog, and
best regards
Hans

Gravatar Organic SEO may make itself extinct within a few years due to the very few SEO companies that do anything to prove the value of their services besides just show rankings.

SERPS are a lousy way of proving value in some respects. Just because your site places well for a search term does not guarantee that there will be a corresponding increase in revenue for the efforts.

Some SEM Consultants and Companies are realizing that unless they show a corresponding growth in revenue with the placements and rankings they attain; they will not be able to renew service agreements. And prospective clients are starting to see that just because traffic increases that does not mean that revenue will increase too.

Usability and conversions are just as important if not more so when it comes to being a successful website operator and publisher.

Gravatar Lee, you are soo right about SEO not dying, but transitioning as it already has in the last 5 years.

When Madison Ave completely adopts SEO as they are already starting to with the press that social media is getting, there will be consequences too.

However, the good news is that extreme black hat (I hate that misnomer) tactics will become less effective, IMO, which is good for everybody (especially the end-user consumer).

Gravatar I agree... There are many forms of driving traffic to your website and SEO is just one of those options. In addition, the options are always changing and morphing, but SEO is here to stay for quite a long time, so I think it would be a mistake to dimiss it.
