wow, that is really a low blow. "it might work for maraiah, it might work for beyonce...." well mary u better pick something cuz aint nothing workin for yo sorry old ass no more. u better ask Janet! She is mainstream as she wanna be and is STILL makin hits!

Maybe Mary should go "mainstream" then because Growing Pains is just lacking something, only liked about 5 songs. Where as when Mariahs new album comes out it will sell hundreds of thousands on the first week which isn't going to happen with Growing Pains.

Look, I'm fixing to go to church. I will speak on Mary's ass when I get back. She's talking out the side of her mouth.

aww hell mary !!!

Gravatar lmao @ ja

but mary is 65 yrs old, the woman can say what she wanna say but if she gonna be talkin like that her work better be shittin on these other hoes and sadly its not.

who cares bout rihanna still waitin for her 15 minutes to be up, but i know the stans are gonna ride for beyonce lol

Gravatar First off, to Mary, this is not the WWF so keep your snarky ass comments to yourself.

Secondly, who is she to say that her ass ain't commercial & mainstream? Is her song "Work That" not in the new iTunes commercial? Is her music not played on radio stations, MTV, BET etc... She needs to sit the fuck down.

I can see how she'd be hating on Mariah. After all Mariah's EOM went 6 times platinum, while TBT on went 3 times platinum. It's probably hard to keep all that jealousy and resentment in. Include the fact that Mariah is gonna come back in a few months and wipe the floor with her ass again. Mary's about to take a serious beating.

As far as Beyonce goes, she might not have sold as many albums as Mariah and Mary, but she is still a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. She's an all around talent, while Mary and Mariah aren't.

I doubt either of these ladies will comment on Mary's pathetic shots at them. They'll just show her how it's really done when it's time to drop their new albums.

Gravatar ya'll be preachin to the quie...!

Gravatar oh mary mary!
oh mary mary!
i really doubt she was trying to pick a fight or trying to say something bad, but as a grown woman she should have known better than to say something as ambiguous as that...doesn't she know people will blow it out of proportion? leave stupid comments to people like beyonce of "i'm just jealous i wasn't born latina and why would i be jealous of jennifer hudson when i have 9 grammys?" fame! oh lord, i smell this as the end of her career! doesn't she know that a MAINSTREAM image is what sells? beyonce has more fans than mary! mariah has more fans tan mary! i'm sure as hell the stans will persecute her for this! so long mary!!!

Gravatar im not sure why people are offended. mary has more than made it clear before that she loves beyonce and mariah. but she is in a different lane than them.

and im not sure what albums yal been listening to because growing pains shit all over the keyshia cole cd and the alicia keys cd.

im actually kinda shocked because this is the only place thus far where I've seen negative comments about this latest project. I went into listening to it expecting somethin average and I honestly wasn't sure she could do it again.

but she did... another 4/5 quality album.

and on a sidenote... neyo and johnta austin KILLED the songwriting on this cd. my God...them dudes is a serious problem right now!

smoke, talk to me, fade away, what is love, hurt again, work in progress... they did the damn thing

Gravatar huh?? ....

....... O.k......

uh huh.......

O.k. Where are the bad remarks? She was simply stating that she has a different sound than them.. And even as this is one of her most "mainstream" records, it's still very "Mary" and she hasn't gone left field. Y'all readin too much into this hell..

Gravatar This has been taken out of context, by the media, as everyone's running with it. What Mary is saying is that she doesn't have the same universal fan base as Mariah and Beyonce. So why would she change her music? Her music is shaped by her experiences and exposure. Mariah saw pains cuz she did just that after leaving Tommy Mattola - change her music style. Before, her concert tv performances wouldn't show one black face in the audience. Beyonce goes where the $$$ is. You're in denial if you think otherwise. But it really doesn't matter, MJB will settle with the rest of the legends when she's through.

Gravatar Mary please. Mainstream? Chevy and Apple commercials aren't mainstream? Dr. Dre, Pharrell, Ne-Yo isn't mainstream? She's working with the same people as Mariah and Beyonce. You pushed your album back because of what? Exactly.

To give Mary a break, I don't think she was genuinely trying to be messy. But the fact that she pluralized Beyonce and Mariah ("might work for A beyonce, A mariah") gives off the notion as if they're expendable and she's above all of that. They deserve more respect than that.

Now I've been down for Mary since the baseball jerseys and tights. But I can't stand arrogance and pomposity. Like I've said numerous times, you're only as big as your last hit Mary. Before 'The Breakthrough' Mariah and Beyonce were still enjoying successful careers, while you were clipping Kendu's toenails.

There's room in the industry for all three ladies.

Gravatar growing pains shit all over the keyshia cole cd and the alicia keys cd.

- DMV is on his phone at work LO

I love you bro but I disagree.

Gravatar shes a jealous bitch, mariah sold the double than THE BREAKTHROUGH but its not only cuz we belong together was 1 of the most successful songs in the last 10 years, its just becuz her album was solid as fuck!!
and she's also jealous about alicia cuz she can outsell her even being 15 years younger
mary, honey...sometimes u just gotta admit that there will always be people more successful than u, your most successful albums only reached 3x platinum, let the other people do their thing and keep the good work up, your last album is pure crap and u will notice that in the sales number, so dont expect a number 1 shot this time

Gravatar WOW! Okay Mariah Carey has put her life on being mainstream but not recording songs that are necessarily mainstream! Mary is getting a bit desperate to throw out a cheap hit at someone who has been making music for almost 20 years and has been successful in the business. It would have been alright if her album really was more independent and raw and she wrote the entire thing. But she didn't I believe the producers she choose mostly did the work. Mariah is a successful song writer and produces allot of the shit she puts out so before she goes and trashes an artists work she should respect!!!

- Peace

Gravatar Calm down. You can pick out as many isolated incidents or songs that you want but at the end of the day Mariah and Beyonce records are calculated marketing projects. "Mainstream" isn't necessarily an insult. It is what it is. The thing some of you folks fail to understand is that Mary can be mainstream, but she can also be old school and alternative whereas the ladies she mentioned cannot, or choose not to. Beyonce is at her best on old school funky sounding tracks like "Work it Out" and "Suga Mama", but most of her stuff leans toward what the rappers and popstars are doing. She's made her choice, or the choice was made for her. Back in the day, Mariah was more of an adult contemporary artist, now she makes chickenhead music. Mariah has been out the same amount of time as Mary and Mary has dipped her toe in a much broader range of musical genres while still retaining her soulful base. So, yes, I understand that Beyonce and Mariah are the princesses of the industry, but Mary is the queen. She's gonna do what she wants and say what she wants, and even when she has a bad album, she picks right back up and keeps it moving without suffering backlash or exhaustion. There has also never been a time in Mary's career where you'll find people saying how sick they are of her and how much she needs to sit down. So relax. Mary has pretty much earned the right to make these comments, although you're making them more offensive then they really are.

Gravatar Mary isn't necessarily saying anything negative about neither beyonce or mariah, wanting a mainstream sound isn't exactly saying "THEM HOES WACK!" by a long shot..and the honest truth is, she isn't exactly saying anything that...well..isnt true. Both Mariah and Beyonce have formed a type of mainstream sound that flows with the now, not exactly showing growth as much as its mirroring what the radio sounds like at that specific time their album or a record is released (Rainbow and B'day anyone?) and that ISN'T a bad thing at all, if it sells it sells..like Mary said, it works for THEM. Saying Mary is dissing or talking down about those 2 is like quoting Mary saying "24inch long indian remy may work for a Beyonce or for a Mariah, but it does nothin for my scalp chile!" it doesn't mean if u wear ur hair down to ur calfs your any less fierce than she is..its just not HER...Now im not saying that Marys material over the years hasnt become more radio friendly, but its still MARY regardless of how it sounds or how it differs from her first recordings...but u have to admit you would go to Mary expecting a more organic sound, style and overall feel of music than u would any other high profile R&B/pop female out now. I honestly would look to Mariah or Beyonce to do a collaboration with someone hot right now like Timbaland (post timberlake and furtado take over of course) or a Polow da Don before i would Mary. If YOUR perception of wanting a mainstream sound is a negative one than that's YOUR opinion and not necessarily where Mary may have been coming from.

Gravatar Please, Mary is mainstream by the same standards. She's doing hella commercials and works with the same producers and writers.

She's not calculated? So they just pushed her album back a couple of times for no reason? THEY WERE CALCULATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't be mad, because your favorite artist made stupid ass comments.

Then she had the nerve to refer to herself in 3rd person. I'll tell you what, she better have Will Smith numbers come Wednesday with all of this fuckery she's talking.

Gravatar Mainstream recognition and mainstream intent are two different things. Like I've said, Mary can go pop, she can go rock, she can go hip-hop, but at the end of the day no matter where she lands, her base is soul. Even IF Mary went out and made her own fragrance or her own cellphone she STILL isn't as mainstream as the others and does not actively court their audience. It's been 15 years, anyone that doesn't understand MJB by now doesn't need to be speaking on her.

Gravatar I will not just let that comment pass cuz as previous people have said, she has like 5 commercials with her damn songs! Advertising iPods, Chevy's and sh*t, that's not MAINSTREAM? She works with the SAME people Mariah has worked with! So if mainstream isn't working for Mary, what the hell is? What was the last COMPLETE song she wrote for herself? The way she said it was insulting, "it might work for them, but not Mary. Bitch I'm Mary J. I run this shit. Tell Keyshia Cole to get off my jock!" Ok she didn't say all that but.....yea. lol Mary you better chase what the mainstream fans like because that's what's SELLING!

Gravatar Exactly Kara

Fuck a base. How many artists had a soul or gospel base, but ended up popping they couchie like everybody else.

This whole debate touches upon the idea of elitism in music. We tend to put some artists on a pedestal and automatically discount others that work just as hard. Face it, if you're signed to a major record label and have went platinum - you're calculated.

Hell alot of people want Mary to go more 'organic' - organic meaning hitting that 'organic' weed, so they can get more of that soulful, 'i don't give a damn' Mary. I frankly don't give damn.

Gravatar Lots of hurt feelings on this joint! LOL. Anyway, many folks are trying to quantify her comments based on production credits and endorsement deals. Some of us have 15 years worth of Mary's career to base our opinions on. Saying Mary works with the same people doesn't help the point; that's like saying Pharrell has no range. Mary makes music that sticks to your ribs no matter who's turning the knobs. She's worked with Bono and performed with Elton John. The soul was still there. Mary can turn a pop song into a soulful one, these other ladies make pop music masquerading as R&B. Mary helped define a genre and a generation. This is irrefutable. There are very few R&B singers that have that level of unflinching respect from the hip-hop community and the rock community. There's a reason she's been called Aretha's heir apparent and has been compared to Nina Simone. She channels the old school everytime.

I swear, the wackjuice of the music industry is spilling over into the blogosphere.

Gravatar nOva please.

I've been listening to Mary J. for 15 years as well. We even bought her remix albums back in the day. - And some of those albums were 'wackjuice.'

I'm not a big Mariah fan, but she's left just as big if not a bigger mark than Mary. Beyonce is on the right start to doing the same. They both deserve more respect. A true 'Queen' doesn't stoop to that level, but let's her music speak for itself.

Gravatar Trust and believe and Mary has nothing to lose from making these comments. She might lose Mariah fans and Beyonce fans, but her own fans will follow her wherever she goes. There is so substitute for the truth. Mary has never chased perfection; she's always chased truth. That's why she lays her flaws bare and doesn't front.

Her comments might have been a little tacky, but they aren't false.

Gravatar Let me play devil's advocate.

Mariah or Beyonce haven't always chased truth? They don't lay out their flaws bare and don't front?

WIth 10+ songwriters on Mary's latest album, I'm wondering just who's truth and flaws we're listening to.

Gravatar I love Mary and her new album but it's no secret that Mary's still got issues. She may not be on drugs anymore but she's got she's definitely got self-esteem issues. And from various comments such as this one and some of her fairly recent actions (such as dissing Vibe while accepting their most esteem award) tells me that she still has a lot of growing up to do. We're all a work in progress and no one's perfect, but I think she needs to learn how to think before she speaks and keep mouth her closed. Very low blow to try and diss Beyonce and Mariah on the sly. Everyone wants mainstream success and she's lying to herself and anyone else if she says different.

Gravatar "neyo and johnta austin KILLED the songwriting on this cd"

Ne-Yo's joints sound like Ne-Yo joints. Boring and shit. I read he wrote "Work in progress (Growing pains)", but there's no confirmation of it. I'll have to wait until I see the inlay for the album. If he did write that song, then he came correct with the songwriting. But if all he contributed were those weak, recycled like tin can Stargate joints, then FuggleLips needs to step up his game.

The only folk who killed anything on MJB's latest in my opinion are Dre & Vidal. They came so correct with "Hurt again", which I can't stress enough is an MJB classic in my eyes. That joint has been on repeat all week.

"Growing pains" was just an okay album and personally I don't think it touches Alicia's CD. It has too many tracks on it, 1 too many songs written and produced by Stargate and the club joints are garbage. Kendu needs to smack the bitch so she can come with an album that's actually decent. *lol*

I think it's ironic for Mary to say what she said about Mariah and Beyonce considering that her breakthrough hit was a complete bite of one of Mariah's songs.

Gravatar lol i knew it! just as i predicted! i smell the end of a career!

Gravatar I agree with everything you are saying Toya, I'm dissapointed in Mary. This new album is more mainstream and away from this so called Organic mary j. blige than ever! She is dancing in her videos and the sound it different. Its ashame, I thought she was just fine, work that, no more drama Mary

Gravatar lol I dunno... I suppose this is why we all are unique and music is so special. we all get different feelings and responses from works of art and I thinnk that is great.

on another note tho... Toya...I thought you was leavin for a minute homie? I swear... I refused to check the site for like the past 2 weeks cause I was tryna slowly break my addiction to prepare for your absense. had a nigga scratchin and shit like bobby brown in rehab lol. I hope things is good wit you... and as far as myself.... ya boy is moving to LA and things is poppin right now lol. you kno you will be the FIRST to kno as things continue to progress.

oh yea... and all yall toyasworld lovers lol... enjoy your holidays. get your grub on...get fat...have a couple drinks...go shopping... the whole 9!

Gravatar I was kinda trippin over what she said too, because Mary was all in Mariah's ass when Mimi dropped. All over radio saying how Mariah inspired her. In one interview, she even praised Mariah and claimed that it was a performance of Mariah's own Love Takes Time that got Mary signed.

Mariah doesn't chase any mainstream sound. Mariah set the standards for music whenever an album drops and should be applauded for continually raising the bar and making the songs that other artist [including Mary] try to duplicate.

Gravatar People! Give Mary a break! lol! Though it may have been unbecoming of her to say that about two artists who've been around so long and who've achieved multi-platinum success, she still is right in her comment. Mary was definitely talking about her sound in that comment. Though you may say that she is commercialized because of all the ads she's in, it doesn't change a rat's ass in terms of her music. Mary does what Mary likes and she keeps it soulful. I've never heard Mary do a song like Irreplaceable (that song was whackjuice and the only reason it sold so much was because it had POPSONG written all over it.

The Breakthrough had so much soul, it's crazy. Take songs like Ain't Really Love or Alone, Can't Hide From Luv, Father In You for example, Mariah or Beyonce have yet to bring out so much SOUL. I'm not saying that they are unemotional when they sing, I'm just saying that they ventured into different types of music, of sound that appeal more to the mainstream crowd. Both of them are better vocalists than Mary hands down. Even deaf people can hear the difference lol. But it's not catchy songs or beautiful vocal runs that make people like Mary. She puts her problems on the table and let's us connect to her. I still jam to No More Drama, My Life, Be Happy and stuff like that.

Throughout the years, she has refined her sound but still keeps the essence of herself that we've grown to know. When she made that comment, all she wanted to say was that she has a different sound and that the sound that Beyonce or Mariah has wouldn't work for her. It's crazy how it's all been blown outta proportion. To prove what she was saying, Growing Pains was sub par in Mary standards because she tried to go a little commercial. (AND BY COMMERCIAL I MEAN THE SOUND U THICKHEADS!) Oh big deal she's being promoted and appearing in ads! Who isn't? You can criticize her for promoting her album but seriously... NO SHIT! She's got to do what she's got to do especially when her sound doesn't appeal to mainstream America.

And I applaud her for staying Mary and not diving into the mainstream because it's hard to find an artist who's that honest with you in their music. If you think otherwise, it's fine, you can just continue to support Soulja Boy and his whack ass!

Gravatar If we're going to talk about artist who aren't mainstream and commercial and still have real soul in their music, lets talk about Erykah Badu and India.Arie. These two ladies definitely don't conform to what's popular to sell music. They're not using the hottest writers and hottest produces to get that commercial sound. Can Mary say the same??? I didn't think so.

Gravatar David, a lot of stuff has been happening in music as of late, the new Janet Jackson single leaking, the Letoya buzz single, Michelle's new music and so forth. Just imagine if I took time off, I'd have missed all of that. I do plan to take time off next week because it'll be Christmas and I intend to enjoy that. I decided that 3 months off would be quite damning. That said, I'm not going anywhere, so stay enjoying your TW fixture

Gravatar If your going to bring India.Arie and Erykah Badu into this, why not bring every single artist that friggin exist into the equation and compare them all to each other! All I wanted to say was that Mary didn't mean to diss Mariah or Beyonce, and that compared to them, she appeals less to the commercial and has a different sound. Don't get me wrong, I love India and Erykah too. I'm just saying that y'all need to cut Mary some slack 'cause she probably didn't mean for it to come out the way it did.

Gravatar Hey music fan ~ I can respect your opinion about Mary and her statement.

I don't agree at all. I don't think Mary is all about soul music. She is trying to sell her records regardless. She may not be as mainstream as Beyonce or Mariah, but she is still mainstream and commercial.

And I do think she made that statement in a snarky way. I'm not, nor ever have been, a Mary fan. I think she's egotistical, pompous and condescending, but hey that's just me.

Gravatar Hey Mia, I don't think Mary is all about soul music either, I just don't like everybody hating on an artist because of an ambiguous comment that they made. Everybody's got they're own opinion. :P

Gravatar Am I the only one who feels that this shit was taken WAY too serious? All she did was name two of the hottest mainstream artists in today's generation. MJB seems to be strictly R&B/Soul, which I think limits her success. Mary caters to Mary. Plain and simple. She does what she wants, despite what others may think of her. I think she knows at the end of the day that SOMEBODY will appreciate her music. I won't deny that enormous ego of hers though LOL. As for Mariah, I can't say anything really, I know next to nothing about her material besides "The Emancipation Of Mimi." But Beyonce...LMAO, Beyonce caters to whatever adds money in the bank. I ain't goin' no further than that due to the fact that it might spark World War 3.

Gravatar Ambiguous statements or not, artists should keep their fucking mouth closed if they don't want interpretation. I absolutely HATE when artists make egotistical remarks. It turned me off to Kanye, and it's turning me off to Mary.

I'm tired of artists thinking that just because they put an extra run in a song, they think their music is more genuine or authentic. Bitch please. Mary's chasing that $ just like everyone else. Mary was flat out disrespectful. Wasn't she just in a song talking about that?

Gravatar @ Ja ~ "It turned me off to Kanye, and it's turning me off to Mary."

I've felt the same way about Kanye for years. He's got the worst attitude in the business.

Gravatar To clarify everything:

Mary is good friends with Mariah and she usually shows Beyonce respect for all her achievements.

Mary is just saying that she doesn't go into the studio to intentionally make that song that's gonna be a huge hit record and go straight to number one. Honestly, that's what some people do. Mariah's team has always been conscious of what she put out as singles, especially back in the day. If they didn't think the song would go to number one, they didn't put it out. And Mariah has also been seen as formulaic. Think how similar "Dream Lover," "Fantasy," and "Honey" sound.

And Beyonce definitely goes into the studio to produce that big hit that she thinks will do well on the charts.

With Mary, she knows she needs a hit, subconsciously like any artist should, but she doesn't stress over it. That's why Mary's album generally come out good and they are cohesive joints.

And ur really reaching with the videos thing, Mary's worked with all the video directors, she probably liked his treatment for the video the best cause when u make a video, u send out the song to several directors, and they create concepts... so she probably liked his the best.

And TOYA, can u elaborate on what she said about Ashanti and Alicia Keys back in their early days.

Gravatar Kendu needs to go upside her head.

Gravatar "Kendu needs to go upside her head."

LMAO!

Gravatar PLEASE MARY IS JUST AS CALCULATED AS ANY MAINSTREAM ARTIST TRYING TO MAKE THAT MONEY.AFTER ALL IT'S HER CAREER AND SOURCE OF LIVING.SORRY HER COMMENT CAME ACROSS AS BEING BITTER AND HATEFUL. SHE PROBABLY BITTER THAT MARIAH'S EOM ALBUM OUTSOLD THE BREAK THROUGH ALBUM AND THEN BDAY CAME OUT THE FOLLOWING YEAR AND OUTSOLD THE BREAK THROUGH DOMESTICALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY.BOTTOMLINE MARY IS AS MAINSTREAM AS THE NEXT ARTIST.SHE'S BEEN SELLING THAT WHOLE WOE IS ME ACT FOR THE PAST 15YRS,NEVA MIND MILLIONAIRE AND SECURE FOR LIFE.bITCH PLEASE!!!!I SMELL A FLOP

Gravatar So we know the subconscious thoughts of Mary now?

Gravatar This is not the first time the dried up, haggard old witch has done this kinda thing. On a documentary about her life about 5 years ago she did the same thing to Christina Aguilera, calling her a nasty person and that britney didn't have as good a voice as christina but she will be around longer because she is a nicer person!
she then went on to say that Alicia Keys has imitated her sound and her style! When questioned on British tv about mary's comments, Alicia looked stunned and close to tears.
When will she stop and realize she has been around long enough to serve as a role model.
I think she is very immature for her age to say what she says about artists, in particular artists who can match her on the strength of her voice. She has the mentality that she should be the only one who can hit those high notes and rake in those sales. Well sorry mary but that ain't the case so get over it and get on with it! Lizzard.

Gravatar Pleaseee, Mary is all formula. She bases as much on her appeareance and being hip as in her music. And it offends me that she puts Beyonce in the same box as Mariah. Mariah has created a new face in music, she has fought for her sound and really INVENTED a new category they all imitate. Please, Mary.

That said, i seriously doubt this is really true. It sounds like a media invention. Maryworships Mariah (wich i alwys suspected as a serious attempt to steal her light)

Gravatar Mary does not worship Mariah, she respects her and Mary does not want to be Mariah. Mariah channels Minnie Riperton, Mary channels Chaka and Aretha, and Beyonce channels Tina. This discussion is closed. It's obvious that they all are influential and they sell. People love them. As far as i'm concerened in the 90's the decade belonged to Mary, Mariah, Janet, and Toni with Brandy, Aaliyah, and Monica thrown in the mix. Now its the 2000's the decade remains Mariah's, Mary's, and i can safely say Beyonce.

Gravatar wow someone really believes Mariah Carey and Mary have been out the same amount of time... actually Mariah Carey has at least been in the music business for 5+ years more than Mary... just thought i'd throw that out there since someone and i don't even care to say their name seems to think differently and im tired of people sucking mary's dick, she made a fool of herself by saying this statement... when she retracts it then i will be satisfied but until then im going to make sure i comment on her flaws, thanks , and btw no one is perfect but when you make comments about other people you should know that when you point the finger you have three pointing back at ya!!

- PEACE

Gravatar I agree with nOva's initial comment. It is what it is.

How about this, music today is about REALLY SELLING, and maybe Mary is saying she doesn't care about that? she'd rather stick to what she likes, what works for her.

Bottom line, I don't care. I didn't see it as an insult; just her stating how she feels about music today. It all sucks...for the most part.

Gravatar @ SPIRDERMAN,

u have no fucking clue. Matiah debuted in 1990, and Mary debuted in 1992. And actually, Mary was doing back-up work for Father MC back in 1991. So the two ladies pretty mich came out at the same time. Also, Mariah's only one year older than Mary.

Gravatar Granny J. Blige ain't nothing more than a bitter, insecure bitch.

And Keyshia's CD shits all over "Stomach Pains."

Her stans have gone on attack though...purchasing multiple copies of the album so that every cat in the world can be killed with her screeching.

Gravatar Its a damn shame...

Mary Mary Mary...

I love u but...Beyonce Sold more than u with dc albums and her albums.

Mariah is on another level! Dont go there..

Beyone has taken over! ( and beyonce can sing soul music just as well as the next person(dangerously in love anyone?)Beyonce can sing any genre of music as well a Mariah..They have so much to fall back on

just be as happy the queen of hip hop and soul

Retire! u look 50 years old.

Gravatar get over it. nobody compares to Mary. u can talk all the ying yang if ya like but it aint do a damn thing.

Gravatar First of all I,m not buying this quote. I heard Mary during a radio interview saying that she wanted the song Umbrella for herself but was told Rihanna got it first. She further stated that she had to gibve Rihanna her props because she felt like she killed the and the was video was just as tight. I have also heard giving nuthin" but props to both Mariah and Beyonce so like I said I,m not buying these suspect statements that are being attributed to her. Come on people, these sites are in the business of creating controversy let's not assist them in their scandolous endeavors.

Gravatar Mary J. Blige was not dissing Mariah Carey or Beyonce. People can take something and try and cause confusion she was simply saying that Main Stream music embraces them better because of the way they were groomed coming up in the industry and some songs were more pop earlier on in their careers. She is on another whole venue and yes, still more main stream now due to her growth as a musician. Her precedent and stability in the music industry cannot be questioned. Many artists including Beyonce, Rhinna, Faith and countless others would not have the record deals they did if it wasn't for Mary J. Blige and her & puff New Jill Swing movement. Mary has more love for people in the industry than anyone I know in the music industry. She sees them and enjoys their successes with them and defends and supports artist when they are going through or it seems like the industry is having a field day with any issue an artist might be going through. SO for people who want to hate on Mary and say she is not doing her THING, PLEASE. GROWING PAINS IS SLAMMING and 16 + years in the industry, TEN STUDIO ALBUMS, several compilation albums, SONGS WITH NEARLY EVERY ARTIST IN EVERY GENRE, EVERY AWARD THERE IS, PLEASE LET'S NOT Jump on MARY J. Blige because we all know what she meant and it does work for Mariah and Beyonce but MARY came from another place and SHE IS A DIAMOND IN THE RUFF AND STILL GLEAMING! Mary will have some of the artists who came up behind her, (their kids will and grand kids will be paying tribute to Mary and doing her songs over so leave MARY J. Blige alone because everybody who knows Mary knows what she was saying. And one more thing, Mary J. Blige has been main stream for a while ever since Share My World, maybe even after My Life, I'm Going Down, but she has gone slowly and somewhat reticent because of who she is and where she has been and all of what she went through coming up in the music industry that really cared about her and doing right by her as a young and not business minded start. She has often praised Beyonce's Dad & Mother for their known presence and care of their daughter’s career. She did not have that but would have liked it. That may be the only thing Mary wishes she had that Beyonce had. So stop trying to make something out of nothing and use people's sensitive egos to try and put celebrities against each other for a story.
Luv U 4 Life MARY
#1 FAN
Mariah Carey & Beyonce both know, love and respect Mary J. Blige and hopefully they will see this ploy to put one another against each other for the cheap and pathetic trick that it is.
