There is a difference with the Jen and Amy situation. Jen did it OPENLY thinking she wouldn't face any backlash, whereas Amy did it secretly, knowing that it was wrong, which is why she inquired as to whether she was being filmed or not.
J.LO dated Diddy, and she declared her love for him so it's highly unlikely that she's racist. The difference is, Jen thought she would get away with it because she dated a black man. In the song (I'm Real remix), she was addressing Diddy when she said the 'n' word. However, she did say that Ja Rule wrote those lyrics, which of course isn't an excuse, but she was wrong all the same.

A lot of white artist grew up listening to Soul and if that's what they were inspired by, so be it. I love Joss Stone's music, especially her latest album. @ Mia, J.Lo and Em used racist lyrics but I guess it doesn't necessarily make them racist. It just means they've become comfortable enough to use the 'n' word due to having a lot of blacks in their circle or prior to their previous relationships with one (although Em's black 'ex-girlfriend' has yet to identify herself *rolls eyes*). Some whites who are cool with blacks see blacks using the 'n' word to each other as a term of endearment and they think they can use it too. But whether you're black or white, the word shouldn't be used. I find it offensive regardless of who uses it simply because of the history that lies behind it.

Amy would've NEVER apologised if that video didn't leak. I'm glad I didn't buy that album too. I'm too much of a happy hippy to listen to dreary music like that. I don't understand why the police do not throw her in jail...the evidence (drugs) is clearly in the video.

She talked about on Wendy Williams in 2003 and had Mary Ann (friend/back up singer) who said she was there with them too and said nothing went on.

When white people make up the majority of the consumers who buy your music(even if it is 'black' music), then they are the ones who will decide if your career is over. That was just a few lines from a song, within the context of the rest of the song I'm sure it could have been regarded as offensive. But it comes as no surprise - racism has always been here and even in 2008 it's obviously gonna be a long time before it's a thing of the past.
