It was obviously an accident because if she really wanted a baby Paris would have gotten married first and settled down. Um...I don't think the mother was saying she doesn't know what the baby's father does. She said "I can't tell", meaning she's keeping it a secret, not that she doesn't know.
I think her mom meant that she was proud because Paris is older than she was, and the father is still in the picture. She's not having the baby as a young teenager, she's an adult.
I found out she was pregnant a couple of days ago and I heard she and the boy she's pregnant by, are no longer together.

Hmmm...I think I am in the minority when I say I don't watch American Idol. I also don't listen to the radio or watch the Viacom Monster (that is made of MTV and BET). I try to cut my ignorance intake down to just the internet, lol.
But anyway...I have no idea who this chick is. Did she win Idol or something?
I think her mom is proud she made it farther than she did and achieved some stuff before getting pregnant. That's great I guess, but this girl looks super young. I really hope she can handle it and has a lot of people on her side because raising a child is difficult enough for fully grown, emotionally mature, and financially stable married couples.
I wish her luck, but I sure as hell don't envy her situation. :-/

IF Paris would have won, I don't know if she would big today....look @ Fantasia? Would fans continue to support her today? Is America looking for another African American soul r&B singer or would they rather give all the Grammys and public recognition to white girls (both in the US and across the UK) such as Amy Winehouse, Adele, Joss Stone, Adele, Duffy, (even Jojo to some degree)?
All these woman have had or are currently having more success than Paris Benette. NOT to knock any of those women down because I enjoy their music, but UK and US music labels are catering towards whites with the image and talent while blacks and other races identify with the music.
Estelle actually mentioned a similar argument a while back and Duffy responded by saying something along the lines of "music is music and race shouldn't matter," which I agree with BUT when you're music is getting played (as the case with Duffy who's have WAAAAAAAAAAAAY more success in the US and established success in the UK) with her album (Rockferry) and single for "Mercy" (also on the Sex and City soundtrack here in the states -- most likely to broaden her fan base to a younger crowd), it's almost TOO EASY to make a statement like that.
When you're talented like Estelle or Paris and your albums aren't selling "as much" or in Paris's case, not at all, you have to wonder what's up with the music label and their lack of support? And the fans not really getting into it?
Yeah, but why is her mom proud? What exactly has her daughter achieved (besides going on American Idol) and releasing an album that completely failed? She could have waited to get her career on track, but oh well, who's to say she won't achieve after the baby is born? It's going to be hard but not impossible. Solange Knowles is a great example.
After reading the whole article, it seems this family is messed up! She got pregnant with Paris at 16 and now Paris is pregnant at 19! And she goes on to say she's proud! Of what?!? The fact that ya'll can't quite grasp the concept of how a condom works?!?
