@ mileka ~ I thought all of her albums had a different sound to them. I don't feel like I'm getting the same ol', same ol' from her. I think she's stepping it up evertime. Although her 1st album is my favorite out of the 3.
@ mileka, thats an intresting point that you make because I never felt like "As I Am" was a continuation of anything. I can see how some songs off all of her albums have common threads, but i felt like "As I Am" was a very different, and new sound for Alicia. I go against the grain with a lot of people cause I felt like that was her best album to date. For this next one i hope she explores the reggae motif that was in As I Am, and maybe fuses that motif with more Prince songs, or makes an album reminiscent of Motown.

They DO sorta sound different, but at the same time they sound like continuation's of each other to me. Like there's no cut off and start points, as though all the songs were written at the same time and put out on different cd's For example You Don't Know My Name and Teenage Love Affair.

@ mikela, there is a little bit of reggae on "As I Am." "No One" has the dancehall feel to it, and "Where Do We Go From Here" has an even greater reggae feel to it. It's not completely Dancehall, but it has a little island flavor.

Alicia is working on 2 different album one is going to be laid back acoustic soul and very piano inspired, she going for a Carol King, Donny Hathaway, Soul Vibe.
The other is another As I Am experimental type. Its going to be very artistic and have a lot of instrumentation experiencing, she said shes looking to work with The White Stripes. Mark Ronson and others have approached her with some ideas as well.

before my G and I had 2 accidents in a 9 month period and knew I had to get rid of it. The day I was picking my RX-8 up from the body shop the Infiniti dealership called to tell me they had 2 G's in. The stick shifts are harder to come by. It was destiny!

As long as you don't mind rolling backwards down a big hill, stick shifts are so much more fun to drive than an automatic.
Yes I'm serious about the guy. I was in high school and I was taking the bus home one day. It was just me and this Mexican guy. He came and sat by me. He asked me if I was into masterbation. I said no. He said he was and he usually did it about 5-6 times a day. Then he looks down at his watch and says "It's about that time". Then he had at it. Looking back at it, it's funny. Being their was disturbing.

I really wanted Alicia to release Lesson Learned too but I went to her show two weeks ago it was really really a great show Alicia sing, played, and entertained her heart out. I loved the show and superwoman was one of the highlights. When she started playing and people knew it was superwoman the crowd went crazy especially us ladies! That song is like an anthem and it has crossover written all over it. So I think she made a good choice. My friend who went with me is just a casual fan no big fan like me but since that show she is always singing superwoman to herself and when she gets in my car she is like play superwoman.
I hope Amerie is able to do her thing now that she is with DefJam and I hope Ashanti puts out another solid single and maybe she can pick up enough to go gold. How many CD's does she have to put out to get out of this murder INC deal?
