alicia and musiq soulchild haha....i saw musiq on thursday at the jazz cafe in camden and saw alicia at the o2 on friday...both were really good...musiq shook everyones hand and seemed really down to earth...alicias vocals were amazing live...i was very shocked she sounded a lot better then on her other live performances...she was really belting her songs out...toya didnt u go?...i thought u wud of wrote what u thought it was like....but her and her backing singer done a cover of tender love...that was AMAZING..

Her first album was a solid effort that I played the hell out of when it first dropped. "Call me" and "I do" were hot. I thought she'd be the one to shut the UK R&B scene down, but I guess I was wrong. If there's one thing about UK R&B acts is that once they f**k up, there's no coming back for them. It doesn't matter how well their past shit sold.

It wasn't so much her doing one big thing in particular that f**ked up her career. It was more a combination of rubbish decisions, bad timing, stepping away from the limelight for too long inbetween albums that weren't all that successful and also not getting any label support. And also what seems to be a rite of passage that a UK artist cannot keep afloat and maintain sales over a long period of time as an R&B act.
Jamelia came onto the scene to minimal response, peaked with a single she had released called "Superstar" and then dissapeared after releasing a third album that nobody gave two shits about. (Rightly so, the album was garbage). There's not much more of a story to her career than that. Her first album was pretty solid, but her second one tried to come with this thugged out vibe that felt forced and contrived, and her third album was just complete trash. If you were to check out some songs of hers, I'd reccomend "I do", "Money", "Call me" and "Thank you". If you can't find 'em on the web then lemme know and I'll hook you up. I have her first 2 albums that these songs feature on.
I downloaded her hits album that came out last year. I thought the songs on there were good. Good enough that I'll keep an eye out for her in the future.
