I think a small reason why "I'm Grown" isn't doing much is a.) Bow Wow and b.) the topic. She clarified the meaning behind the song, but I doubt the public really cared much. Her attitude also seems to put people off.
Anyways, she did indeed have a solid debut. I'll even go so far as to say she did better than a few people who've been in the industry for awhile. Very age appropriate, but I'm still not seeing her going far

I like it a lot more than I did when I first heard it. I'd give it a 4 now but I still take TEOM over it any day of the week.

I don't know Toya, all these girls around my age coming out with this music that is so "grown" for their age, I don't think that affects how well their album says. You said the same thing about Teairra Mari; no offense of course lol, I just remember that.
Cause every girl in my school was rocking that damned No Daddy song. I don't think no one has actually heard about Tiffany Evans to care. When i used to make CDs for people, Promise Ring was always there. But this I'm grown song, which has a nice beat and is good until Bow Wow comes in -- I haven't heard/seen any requests for it. I dont think it's because of the lyrical content, cause that's how most girls 16-18 think. Their grown, blah blah blah. and Teairra Mari talking about letting a nigga make her feel good - I'm not sure if it was just nasty raw fuck-nasty type stuff - but that song was veryy popular. I think the thing is they don't appeal to ALL crowds.
TM singing about a "nigga" making her feel good turns all races/colors of people off except black girls. You're not gonna see a asian talking about: A nigga make me feel good! But you WILL see them saying: "Under my Umberella, ella, ella, eh"
JoJo did the same thing ("The Way You Do Me,Do you know how to touch a girl?) - but she doesn't appeal to black stations/TV much at all - and the girl can SANG. Her last album was very good. Truly, I think TM, Tiffany Evans, and JoJo should be selling about as much as Ciara/Leona. based on talent.
I don't think they sell cause their young with mature lyrics - more than adults not wanting to buy their albums because their so young. (30 year old woman buying JoJo's first album might make them feel weird bumping that in the car. Cause there are people like that)
And of course promotion. Who would promote a 15-year-old Tiffany Evans when you got Beyoncé, MC, JJ, Ciara, and now Leona selling mass albums?
Album should have come out a few weeks after Promise Ring.
