This doesn't really mean anything to be honest. Sales were suppressed for over a month by delaying the iTunes release. All those sales that had built up during that time were squished into a week, which is why she sold so much. It was the same thing with Touch My Body, it doesn't really give a true impression of popularity. Of course most people just see "#1" and don't question anything.
I think the song will struggle to hit platinum in the long run.

but now I think the song is pretty...ummm...good.

"Take A Bow" is a decent song. It's still not going to help sell her re-release though. I still say this chicken is on borrowed time.
I would understand why her songs such as: "SOS" or "Pon De Replay" would be No. 1 or maybe even "Umbrella", "Don't Stop The Music" or "Breaking Dishes". But for "Take A Bow" hmmmmmmmm... She cannot sing R&B that well, she lacks the deep and moving voice and the singing skills that a strong Soul/R&B female has. She kinda has a light Caribbean accent when she sings so it's just weird when she tries to sing ballad. The "Unfaithful" track was also such a whack when it came out!

But to be fair, Rihanna did have good sale with GGGB... She hit 350,000 copies in Canada, 200,000 copies in Germany, 150,000 in France & Australia, almost 1 mil in the UK. She takes in almost 100,000 copies in various countries and her sales lie from 20,000 ---> 80,000 in many smaller industries. It is true that her records are moving.
But it's kinda disappointing to see the market going up side down when ppl who has true talents and potentials does not spare well as those with less of these.

TAB had no promotion whatsoever. She didn't perform on American Idol, any of the morning news programs, or anywhere else. Especially if you compare this week's number one to last week's. Don't get me wrong, I LOVVEEEEE Leona but promotion helped the song to number one. Rihanna got the number one song with little promotion.

I bought her first two albums the day they came out but I had a feeling GGGB wouldn't have the same caribbean vibe at A Girl Like Me and Music Of The Sun, and that's really what attracted me to Rihanna and her music. She was relevant 'cos no other 18 year-old was doing that mainstream. Good Girl Gone Bad sounds like any other female pop/rnb album, atleast from the singles anyway. "Sell Me Candy" is dope though - wish she'd release that. I love "Lemme Get That" too.
