I personally have not gotten it yet Umbrella was ok, but her singing to me has not grown if any she is going back she has no tone and the songs she sings dont require much work and she still has too much trouble carrying them through.
I do not feel like writing an essay today because I do enough of that for my college classes; however, if someone can find me a picture of Beyonce dancing onstage in a dominatrix costume then I will gladly shut the fuck up. I think I give up, lol. If you expose yourself you look hoeish no matter what you wear, and I damn well know Beyonce has had few wardrobe malfunctions in her time or came close. I can post pics but it doesn't matter. I'm over this whole argument. A revealing outfit is a revealing outfit. If Rihanna's dominatrix outfit was made out of fluff, would that make it any better? NO. Because it's still revealing. This post has just taught me that folks dislike Rihanna because she's becoming just as successful and business-savvy minded like her idol Beyonce and folks don't like that because there can only be one Beyonce. Rihanna is more younger and appears to be a lot more daring and hip and well, is not afraid to push the boundaries with EVERYTHING in her career - her image, hair, stage costumes, music, etc. She takes risks and is a chancer. Basically, she is everything that Beyonce isn't. It's like the Madonna and Mariah situation. Whilst Mariah will kill Madonna vocally, Madonna has ALWAYS pushed the boundaries with her career but overall, (just like Riri and Bey) you can't be fans of both of them because it's a sin. One of them will always be seen as a threat to the others career.

It's so funny how Beyonce's name always comes up when people talk about Rihanna, that's something I will never understand because Riri will never be in that league.

I must admit. I'm upset at the fact that rihanna is so successful. It makes me mad to see her sell out tours, and have #1 singles on every billboard chart, and more etc..
But I'm not mad at that because I think she is getting up there with beyonce nor am I mad because I think beyonce should be the only one doing it big. In my book---that's not the case. Truth be told, I can't beyonce. I don't like bey. She has NO personality, and she is so bland in real life. But I don't take anything away from byonce's voice and her performing skills, because homegirl can do both and sound flawless at the same time. The reason why I get so upset with rihanna's success is because she has nothing to offer. She's boring in her videos and on live set's. Her voice is only average. and another thing toya, Rihanna does not take risk or chances. In clothing and shoes and hair-styles, yes. But in the music industry, NO. Rihanna doesn't take risk. A prime example of a risk taker would be "Ciara". Now ciara takes risk but rihanna...NO! Taking a risk is not just about changing your style. Going out your limits is taking a risk, testing yourself, doing something you never did before. How do ciara take risk? She made a song called like a boy {Knowing folks was questioning her gender anyway} she did a ballad "PROMISE" {Knowing people talk about how shitty her vocals are} She also made a video without dancing "Can't leave him alone" {Knowing people say she is only entertaing when she is dancing} That's risk taking. It might not be that big of a risk take, but for ciara...yes, it's that big of risk taking. Rihanna hasn't done anything that made people say "OMG, I can't believe she did that?" besides change her style in clothing...Nothing else.
@ JRNB14 Tottaly agree with U about Rihanna not taking risks..She is still playing it easy. And that is the case of a lot of artists(Justin for example; I would really like him for once,NOT to work with TIMBO and to go were he never been...)

@JRNB14: I kind of have to disagree. Rihanna may not have taken any MAJOR risks music wise, but she did have a different formula than her other albums. It wasn't just a "pop/R&B/reggae" album that she's done in the past. It was a vast array of sounds. Along with those newfound sounds of hers, she also was a hell of a lot edgier than her previous 2. "GGGB" may not have sold much, but she most certainly surprised people. LOL, it's considered to be her best for a reason!
I DO, however, agree with the fact that she doesn't have much, if anything, to offer. What sets her apart from all the other competition, to me, is her Caribbean accent. Something about it stands out from the rest. If she had an American accent, I HIGHLY doubt she'd even gotten a contract.
I think if she continues on her route, she's here to stay .
Let me just say this. Beyonce, on the regular, gets talked about for her voice, her music or her performances. She may dress trampy and slutty for her concerts and live performances, but no one really talks about it. Her talent is front and center ALL THE TIME. That and her lacefronts that is.
Rihanna may be "here to stay", but not for her "musical" career. When people talk about Rihanna, it's almost always about her looks and if her "singing" career is brought up it's ALMOST ALWAYS in a negative way.
Rihanna maybe a threat to some people in the music industry (because of hype, not talent), but Beyonce is not one of them.
@ mike I dont think so, look at all she has done in the last two years, what's left for the imagination except for her voice miraculously developing and we all know that's not going to happen and you cant say she has not had the opportunity to develop it because of all this touring, touring to me is taking singing lessons you either get it or you dont and by the reviews and what I hear she dont get it. She sings safe songs, why? because she cant carry a tune and her voice has no range except for her hollaring "what" or "sing" or "I love you" where every she maybe singing. I agree about the Ciara statement she's not a strong singer but she can perform and work a crowd. Rihanna has let them cute statements go to her head she's cute nothing to hollar about but when people pay money they want cute and good singing. She will be an opening act in the states lets see what they are going to do to her then. The saga continues in the werid MUSICAL journey.
Like I said about Rihanna: It's only a matter of time. Her producers will soon run out of gimmicks for her, and she will fade into obscurity.
As for Beyonce: Sad to say, but it looks like she's here to stay. I'm not exactly jumping for joy either, if you know what I mean. But she does have enough talent to keep her career going.

damn...beyoncé didnt take risks? i mean, before crazy in love came out, have you ever heard something similar? she was supposed to come out with naughty girl which is way more generic....she chose CIL instead, which was a risk, even colubia hesitated to put it out she had to convince them...
She came with Me Myself And I which was not a song any other generic singer couldve came out with...she changed the direction after CIL and Baby Boy... Her whole DIL album was a risk with Jazzy songs, Soul songs, Slow songs...not what people could expext after listening to CIL, baby Boy and Naughty Girl...
For B'Day, she could have made a CIL part 2 with Jake Nava directing the video... she tried something else with a new concept..she came out with RIng the alarm which was different from anything she'd done before, and kept the same video director though people made a petition against the deja vu video...
YES BE is far from being the woman who takes the more risks in the industry, but u just can't say she hasnt taken any...
And Rihanna, that is what i call taking risks on the safe side, since her "edgy sound" is still very Pop...nothing to be worried about...

I think if Rihanna continues to show some kind of growth musically, and does something with those whack ass performances of hers, she's here to stay. If she doesn't do much, and just plateaus after her "GGGB" phase, then she'll drop off the face of the earth. Since she lacks in the talent department and uses cliche gimmicks, it'll be difficult for her.
I just feel like people don't give her enough credit =/. Sure she has an average voice, but she does have something plenty of artists lack and that's versatility. Who do you know can pull off what she did with "GGGB"?
And is she an opening act for the Kanye West tour? I know the U.S. is going to tear her to shreds . I doubt people will want to see her over Kanye West....I'll pray for her .

I think both girls are talented in different ways. Both have their faults but the music is always on point. I loved All 3 of Rihannas albums and I loved both of beyonces. I don't think anyone can judge them because beyonce can control her own career. Rihanna can't. She hasen't been in the industry long enough. Even Beyonce has her mom and dad telling her what to do to some degree. You can't judge an artist like that. The music industry has changed. Also everyone is copying that new dance sound. I even heard that Beyonce is going for it on her new album. I just think you all judge these people to harshly. Rihanna is what 19 or 20 let her have fun. Beyonce has also had some sexy clothing and such. At 19(my age) you just want to have fun. I think you should all take that into account. I see both of them in the future making great music. Point-blank. I could care less if beyonce,rihanna,mj,neyo, etc. came to my town and performed. I would most likely not go. I like my music all protooled and nice sounding.

First of all, if any of you don't recognize the impact Beyonce has made on the industry (period - not just R&B), you're obviously delusional and I'm not talking to you. If you don't recognize the name Rihanna has made for herself in this last year, you're obviously delusional as well. However, there should be no comparison of the two. Beyonce has had a career, whether in a group or solo, for ten years. I will admit, the image that Beyonce conveyed in Destiny's Child is different from the one that she conveys as a solo artist. However, there is a distinct age difference between the "Destiny's Child Days" and "Beyonce Days." Beyonce is a grown ass woman now. For the majority of her tenure in DC, she wasn't even of legal age to drink. She had every right to change up her image once she grew up and became an adult. I dare any of us to look at ourselves as we were 5 or 10 years ago, and where we are now.
I in no way have a problem with the way Rihanna dresses. However, it IS contradictory to criticize one person for one thing and praise another for the same. 19 year old Beyonce was not 19 year old Rihanna today. Hell, 19 year old Janet Jackson (who grew up as the nice little girl in the public as well) was not 19 year old Rihanna.
The majority of people don't have a problem with Rihanna, they have a problem with the people who criticize Beyonce in order to praise Rihanna. I commend both ladies for not getting hooked up on crack in the hollywood lifestyle. I commend both ladies for not opening their legs to every Tom, Dick, and motherfucking Harry with a SAG card and good hair. But when it comes to being a genuine talent, Rihanna is a cherry, an orange, and a 5. Beyonce is the jackpot. PERIOD.
So don't criticize an adult over what they did as a teenager. Because as a teenager, I was partying and drinking it up. My wardrobe hinted of a slut. But now that I am a grown ass woman, I will be Dr. Ja MD in 3 years. Because as a child, I acted like a child. Now as a woman, I do whatever the fuck I wanna do.
