I agree... the iconic comparisons are a bit much. But, I think it's clear with her that vocally, her runs and her melisma is very reminiscent of Lauryn, where as I don't hear L.Boogie at ALL from Estelle when she sings.
I don't like the song, and I don't think i'll take to her. She just bores me. That said she is talented, so good luck to her. She'll need it!

What an awful song for a 1st single. I don't like her, this video or this song. I downloaded her album but haven't listened to it yet though so I'm willing to give her chance, she DOES have a wicked voice for 21 years old!

I want to like her but her voice is so monotone that it makes the things that she sing kind of boring because everything is just song in one range.

Jazmine Sullivan is nowhere near Lauryn, the styles are just totally different. I can see similarities with Estelle, but def not with Jaz. That being said, she's gifted, her low voice reminds me more of a Toni Braxton kinda voice.
